Tomorrow's Texas Poll
By Karl-Thomas Musselman
Via every other Texas political blog, tomorrow Texas Poll numbers.
Republican primary
Perry--55%
Strayhorn--24%
General Election
Perry -- 45%
Bell-- 25%
Friedman -- 13%
If you assume that Friedman's numbers would break 10% points to Bell and 3% points to Perry, you'd have a 48%-35% matchup. Seeing Perry under 50% is always a good thing. Seeing a Perry out of office would be a better thing.
The Bell campaign has their analysis over here, though they have the Republican primary number with Perry at 65% instead of 55% which Quorum Report seems to have. In either case, CKMRS has, at best, a case of Joe-mentum, though most every campaign for Governor at this point (including Tony Sanchez) across the board seems to be stuck in neutral. That will be sure to change when people start tuning in sometime in January.
Y'all haven't had a Gubernatorial post in a while to comment on so here ya go. Play nice.

Why don't you just give up trying to figure out who "might be the next governor". Using the latest polls are about as useful as tossing a coin. The local weatherman could do a better job forcasting the future governor. There has yet to be a poll that considers all the candidates. It could be the people taking the polls are like the people in office, useless and lacking in all areas. Who will be governor, is anybody's guess at this point. If Sanchez wants to run, then declare and quit making people think you are the coming messiah. He attracts attention just like that "K" character -status-.
Is that the main qualification, or requirement we want the next governor to fill? Do we want an "image" for a governor or do we want a human being that will do what it takes to take control of this mess the current and past administrations have created in Texas?
Let's get rid of the "kindergarten politics" requirements and start demanding some rational thought from candidates.
I'm still waiting for someone viable to announce as a Democratic candidate for governor.
Seems like everyone who says they're considering never announces. The assumption has to be made that the Democratic Party of Texas either considers it an impossible race to win or for some reason believes Chris Bell can win and should have no opponent in the primary. In other words, Charles Soechting decides who the candidate will be instead of the voters. That is sad.
But then the Democratic Party of Texas has been sad for some time now.
Yeah...most definitely sad...the losing streak: Ann Richards, Garry Mauro, Tony Sanchez...next?
I wish whomever it is that keeps floating Tony Sanchez as a candidate would cut it out. Here's my nomination for best comment of the 2002 campaign, overheard coming out of a Sanchez event: "Well, that was a real barncooler of a speech."
