December 12, 2005Andy Brown to Run in HD 48 Special ElectionBy Katie NaranjoA Note: Brown intends to run in the March Primary with Donna Howard and Kathy Rider no matter the outcome of the legal status of the special election. Howard and Rider are already filed for both elections. Brown has filed with the Secretary of State for the special election as it is a required step to force a decision on his legal status as a candidate to stand in that election (due to residency). That question remains unresolved. Candidates officially approved for the Jan. 17 special will show up here. -KT Press Release just sent out from the Brown Team indicates that Brown will run in the Special Election called by Gov. Perry to be held Jan. 17th.

To very slightly paraphrase The Who: He goes in and out and in and out and in and out and in... Posted by: KRider448 at December 12, 2005 04:09 PMuhh... call me crazy, but does anyone else not like the idea of three democrats and one republican running alongside each other in a special election in a swing district? i really hope this is a race that needs a runoff if no candidate gets 50%+, otherwise the lone republican candidate is likely to win. Posted by: lonestar liberal at December 12, 2005 07:15 PMMeanwhile in other news, Consulting Engineer Len Waterworth is running against Ron Paul in the GOP Primary for the 14th District. And frequent Republican candidate Mike Fjetland is running against Tom DeLay in TX-22. Rhett Smith is running for Governor too. Smith and Waterworth filed today. Fjetland filed on the 9th. All of this information is here. Posted by: RBH at December 12, 2005 10:15 PMThe Chron reports that Fjetland wrote to DeLay, suggesting he wouldn't run for the nomination if Bush would appoint him UN ambassador. Where does the Republican Party find these people? Posted by: Dennis at December 13, 2005 08:18 AMI'll guess that Fjetland won't use the slogan "I'm the Unindicted Man's Choice for Congress" Posted by: RBH at December 13, 2005 12:23 PMUhhhhh.....Andy Brown move into the district in May. There's a one year residency requirement in the Texas CONSTITUTION. Hello? He is not eligible. Not only can a rocket scientist figure this out, even a lawyer can - like Andy Brown. Obviously, Brown is playing some kind of game. Maybe he just can't believe that he has been outmaneuvered and is gonna be SOL. Posted by: Mac at December 13, 2005 02:20 PMPost a comment
