Martin Frost Calls on Democratic Leaders to Adopt 50 State Strategy
By Damon McCullar
From Hotline via Fox News:
In an open letter to DCCC chair/Rep. Rahm Emanuel (IL), DSCC chair/Sen. Charles Schumer and DNC chair Howard Dean, ex-Rep.(and ex-DCCC chair) Martin Frost urges they "throw out the traditional playbook and be bold as you plan for" '06. "There is a real possibility that next year's contest will be a landslide for" Dems "and you need to be prepared to win." After pciking up 90 seats in '32 and seeing the GOP pick up 54 in '94, "history could repeat itself in" '06 "but only if" Dems "expand the playing field."
"Why do I think big" Dem "gains loom? The public is rapidly coming around to the view that" GOPers "lack the ability to handle the big issues facing our country," from Iraq to Social Security to the response to Hurricane Katrina.
"Emanuel and Schumer should file candidates in every single" CD and Sen. race "in the country, even those that have traditionally been" GOP. "And the DNC should be encouraging state legislative leaders throughout the country to take similar action. ... It's now time to shoot the moon. Recruit and file everywhere. ... Be prepared to win some seats you don't deserve because 'the force is with you.'"
"It would be great poetic justice to make" GOPers "defend everywhere rather than just concentrating their resources in certain races. Ever if" GOPers "have more money, they won't have enough to fund candidates everywhere and may leave some races short."

Martin Frost is giving very good advice. The dynamic has changed dramatically and many (read Tom Delay's assertion that the federal budget has no more fat in today's Washington Times), may not see it coming.
Go Martin GO!!! I agree 100%. I only wish he were running the DNC right now.
Frost is great, but don't forget -- not long ago he was adamantly opposed to the run everywhere approach. Meanwhile Howard Dean has been on the run everywhere tip for 2 years now.
On the other hand, Frost is without doubt the better manager and tactician.
Good for Frost and Dean. Now tell us what do Democrats stand for? In fresh terms. Don't tell me what Democrats did for us 25 to 70 years ago.
What is the role of government? What is our role as citizens? What is our relationship and obligation to each other? These are basic questions the GOP has answered years ago.
Don't think the public's loss of confidence in Bush or the GOP simply translates into a gain for the Dems. The other option is that less people go to the polls in November.
Vision? I'm still waiting.
frost is a loser. one letter won't change that. the dccc is no better for him having been there. why won't this dinosaur go away? Am i the only one that remembers his i love bush ads last cycle.
And his lack of redistricting strategy, till it was an immediate threat to him, causing our legislators to have to run for the hills to try and save his ass?
The guy above me is a dope. Frost was the last DCCC Chairman to pick up seats. A total of 14 I belive.
I am not a guy. and i wouldn't let him anywhere near anything important to me.
