Rep. Hardcastle (R) Concerned That Bill White Will Beat Rick Perry

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Tue Jan 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM CST

A hat-tip to the Come & Take It Blog, written by an anonymous Austin GOP consultant for pointing out that Republican Representative Rick Hardcastle, who represents part of Rick Perry's old state legislative district from years past, isn't so confident in Rick Perry's chances to win re-election.

From a story in the Graham Leader...

When the Legislature does reconvene in 2011, one big question will be who is governor?

"Whether or not we'll have a new governor, no one will know until March," Hardcastle said. "If Bill White wins the Democrat primary, whoever wins the Republican primary better get their work boots on. Bill White is the most popular governor of any big city in the nation. Houston is a huge voting block."

Hardcastle said while he supports both Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison, he said he is leaning toward Hutchison for a variety of reasons.

"I think Kay can beat Bill White, and I don't think Rick can beat Bill White," Hardcastle said. "I think the (Trans Texas) Corridor will kill him against Bill White. I don't want to see a Democrat governor when we have a Republican majority."

It must stink to be stuck in the place where you have to risk Rick Perry's revenge on your legislative career by supporting Hutichison- but you choose to do so because you figure that supporting Perry is pointless if he won't survive as Governor through the general election against Bill White.

Democratic Party (3.00 / 1)
Republicans use Democrat Party as a direct insult or they are just ignorant and didn't pay attention in English class. For a party that wants English, our our American version of it as a national language, maybe they should learn it themselves.

Quick! Someone alert Paul Burka! (3.00 / 1)
Cause this may seriously unsettle his carefully constructed reality.

Obviously (0.00 / 0)
Hardcastle is an undercover mole for the (Washington-based) Lone Star Project.

And perhaps someone might point out to Rep. Hardcasle (0.00 / 0)
that Mayor White isn't a governor. Yet.

Don't let the Blue Dogs getcha down. Primary them.
