| Former Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle told the Austin American-Statesman that he is considering a statewide run. Earle told the Statesman he has been approached to run for either Governor and Attorney General. Earle, who was Travis County's DA for 31 years after serving in the Texas Legislature, did not give the Statesman an indication of when he expected to make a decision. Democrat Barbara Radnofsky has filed papers to run for Attorney General and both Tom Schieffer and Kinky Friedman are exploring runs for Governor as Democrats.
