Austin Teabag Tax Protest to Feature Gov. Rick Perry

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Tue Apr 14, 2009 at 06:26 PM CDT

Right Wing TeabaggingFor those of you wondering what the local Republican anti-tax folks are doing here in Austin for April 15th, look no further than the following schedule of events. Two rallies, big speakers, and a march to Lady Bird Lake for a Boston tea party re-enactment!

My only questions are whether there are enough Republicans left in Austin to show up at these ridiculous events to outnumber the total curious onlookers. That, and whether throwing tea-bags off Congress Ave into the lake is a violation of any litter laws?

If they are re-enacting the tea party (3.00 / 1)
can someone write them a ticket for littering?

Are they going to dress up as Native Americans (3.00 / 1)
like the folks at the real Tea Party did?

If they do, there better be video.

Seeing Governor Rick dressed up as the Native American from the Village People would be priceless.

Are they really (0.00 / 0)
going to throw tea bags or bags of tea in the Lake? I have a better idea for who to throw in the lake...

Where there's a Newt  there's a stupid idea.

Unfortunately . . . (0.00 / 0)
there probably will be more onlookers.  Although they will be curious, will they understand that those they are curious about are the few that are paying the way for the many? There will be a point when those that are curious will gather to wonder where the providers have gone.

my atlas just shrugged (0.00 / 0)

I don't think so. n/t (0.00 / 0)

I'm just surprised... (0.00 / 0)
...that a certain few commenters haven't remarked on my choice of picture to include on this post. Some local austinites might remember that from a 2005 municipal election cycle...

as someone who knows wayne christian all too well, i can tell you that this 'party' is clearly a collection of the wackiest of wackos.

perry should be ashamed to find himself at an event like this. his advisers must be REALLY slipping.  it is during middle of session...make something up.

no brady, no poe, no session, no dewhurst....wayne christian and michael williams.

freak show. for real.
