COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

The Texas Democratic Party (TDP) has an opening for a Communications Associate. The TDP is the backbone of the work to turn Texas Blue. Our communications work includes use of traditional and new media and holds Texas Republicans accountable, while engaging all Texans around what it means to be a Texas Democrat.

The Communications Associate will provide strategic creativity to primarily

increase our new media content and reach. The TDP has the largest state party Facebook page in the nation, and an active community of supporters. We are looking for a candidate who can build upon this base, and create and disburse images and videos that get our message out to a growing audience. The Communications Associate would report to the Communications Director and will also aid in building up a large-scale innovative communications infrastructure.

Qualifications:

• A strong commitment to Democratic ideals and issues

• Strong social media skills including high user knowledge of Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TweetSuite, WordPress and A/B testing

• Basic coding skills, with the ability to create campaign landing pages, petitions, surveys, etc

• Ability to create sharable images, with preference given to data visualization skills

• Video production skills

• Excellent verbal, written skills

• A creative and innovative approach to design and political messaging

• Ability to manage details and stay on top of multiple tasks, large and small, at once

• At least two years of organizational new media work preferred

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Texas Democratic Party has an opening for a Finance Director. We are seeking an experienced fundraiser who will serve as a strategic asset to TDP's finance department. The Finance Director will be responsible for helping to manage operations of the department, which include but are not limited to: planning and executing events and other fundraising activities, developing and monitoring call time, building and maintaining donor relationships, and making direct solicitations of state and local donors through multiple channels and media.

The Finance Director will have responsibility for developing and executing strategic fundraising plans and meeting performance milestones, with continual progress toward larger organizational goals. Additionally, he or she will be an aggressive innovator of new ideas, approaches, and opportunities to raise funds.

Qualifications:

• A strong commitment to Democratic ideals and issues

• A minimum of 5 years prior political fundraising experience

• Prior experience in targeting donors with thorough follow-up

• Ability to manage details and stay on top of multiple tasks, large and small, at once

• Social media skills preferred

• Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills including the ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere

• Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Excel

• Knowledge of Texas VAN and NGP database programs

• Experience managing staff preferred

• Ability to train others on the basics of fundraising

40 hours per week. However, you must have a flexible schedule to enable you to work nights and weekends for events. Long hours may occur prior to and during events and during convention and election seasons.

FINANCE ASSISTANT

Job Summary: This position is responsible for the administrative support of the fundraising department of the Texas Democratic Party.

Job Qualifications:

* A bachelor's degree preferred

* Data entry and office experience

* Fundraising experience a plus

Skills and Abilities:

* Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrated proficiency in Excel and Word

* Detailed knowledge of databases and fundraising software helpful

* Good attention to detail and strong analytical skills

* Energetic and organized

* Excellent verbal and written skills

* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively

* Ability to handle sensitive, personal information with discretion and diplomacy

* Must be flexible and adept at managing multiple projects

* Ability to work independently while functioning as a member of a team

Essential Functions:

Database Proficient:

* Know or learn NGP database

* Pull donor call lists

* Build prospect donor lists

Assist with call time of Chair or Finance Director

* Provide all support services

* Follow up on call time

Maintain the Sustaining Member Program

* Add new memberships

* Delete expired memberships

* Send “thank you” and membership pins

* Process Bank Drafts on schedule

* Produce monthly report by category and amount to supervisors.

Maintain the Card Carrying Member Program

* Maintain list of those qualifying

* Send “thank you” and membership cards

* Produce monthly report to supervisors.

Process and maintain online donors

* Code appropriately in small donor databases under direction of supervisors.

* Produce re-solicitation lists upon demand

Process donations and prepare deposits.

* Work directly with Compliance Officer to process donations and prepare

deposits.

Time Commitment:

40 hours per week. However, you must have a flexible schedule to enable you to work nights and weekends for events. Long hours may occur prior to and during events and during convention election seasons.

Salary Range:

Negotiable commensurate to experience.

Essential Functions:

* Interact with Building Manager on day-to-day operations. (Keys, access codes, maintenance, etc.)

* Maintain phone system and assign phone extension and numbers through vendor

* Maintain internal email address system and assign emails to staff through vendor.

* Maintain equipment inventory and assign to staff (cameras, projectors, microphones, etc.)

* Maintain computer hardware inventory and assign access to X drive and related maintenance issues.

* Purchase Manager for office supplies and other purchased services.

* Vendor Coordinator: deal with vendors for printing, graphic arts, and similar projects.

* Maintain list of and relationships with union vendors.

* Travel coordinator for rental cars, flights, for staff and Chair.

* Meeting Coordinator: deal with set-up and logistics for SDEC, Committees and other internal events.

Time Commitment:
