May 21, 2004Obama BlogBy Byron LaMastersCheck out the Blog of my favorite 2004 U.S. Senate candidate, Barack Obama (D-IL) here. I made a small donation to the campaign last month and you can donate to his campaign here. Obama is the Democratic nominee for the open U.S. Senate Seat in Illinois. If elected, he will become only the third African-American Senator since reconstruction. It's by far our best pick-up opportunity, and Obama is an absolutely amazing candidate (check out his website for more info). Speaking of Obama, he's the victim of a political stalking. His opponent, Republican Jack Ryan has hired a personal stalker to follow Obama everywhere he goes. The Chicago Sun Times reports:
Good God. Political stalking is nothing new, but following someone everywhere they go? Jesus. I think it basically says something about the Jack Ryan (GOP nominee) campaign. The guy thinks he has no chance unless he is able to catch Obama making a gaffe. Stupid Republicans.... Sun Times link via Political Wire and the Obama Blog. We have got to get the sealed files from his divorce of Jeri "7 of 9" Ryan. There is some awful stuff there from reports. Posted by: Matthew Saroff at May 21, 2004 07:01 PMThe guy thinks he has no chance unless he is able to catch Obama making a gaffe. Actually, I think this is an attempt to provoke the temper of the normally laid back Obama.
That's a redundancy. UPDATE: The Ryan campaign is ordering staffer Justin Warfel to back off. And videotape opponent Barack Obama from a distance when the candidate is in Springfield. After Obama accused Warfel of virtually `stalking' him in the state capitol for the past week. And even recording personal phone conversations from two or three feet away. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/news/052104_ns_ryan_taping.html While looking into this story, I decided to turn the tables a bit and google Warfel. His devotion to the Republican Party is so great that he has the letters "gop" in his e-mail address immediately following his own initials. He probably has not been doing this just for the money. A solution: Stalk the stalker. Have some guy follow the stalker around 24/67 and see how he likes it. It actually shows how sleazy Republicans really are. But, hey we aleady knew that. I hear that a cleverly wielded laser pointer can be a bitch to unwanted photographers. Just sayin. Posted by: melior at May 22, 2004 07:59 PMLondon had "Jack the Ripper." Illinois has "Jack the Stalker." Posted by: CW at May 24, 2004 01:01 PMJack Ryan is only making himself look like a horse's a$$...of course, that's what Republicans seem best at these days, isn't it. I think if he doesn't call off this Wafel dickhead entirely, Obama and the Democrats of Illinois should insist on seeing what's in Ryan's divorce records! Posted by: George at May 27, 2004 01:22 PMVery weak and dirty to want divorce records. Even as a woman Democrat who paid alimoney, what woman trying to maintain custody of a child would ever lie about the father???? Using divorce records on anyone never impressed me after I was lied about by my ex for money. Posted by: Demo at June 22, 2004 11:47 PMPost a comment
