Off the Kuff
By Byron LaMasters
Charles is experiencing technical difficulties with his blog, Off the Kuff. He's asked me to notify my readers, since we share some of the same audience. Let's all hope that he gets things fixed up soon, so that he can get Off the Kuff back online.

Thanks, Byron. I feel like I'm in the wilderness. Worst of all, I'll be out of town over the weekend, so I really need to get this resolved ASAP. It's tough.
Well, best of luck. Charles... I've got a MT question for you when you have a chance, but I know that you probably have other things on your mind, but if you'll see my "Redistricting Chaos" post, you'll notice that it's really long. I've noticed that some of your really long redistricting posts have been posted the way PSR posts them (with the excerpt on the main page, and the reader clicks a link to read the rest). So, I've tried posting them here like that, but it just posts it all to the index page... is it an MT code issue? Or something really simple? Anyway, if you, or anyone else can help me on that I'd appreciate it. My temporary solution was pre-dating the "redistricting chaos" entry, so this notice wouldn't be buried under it.
I just heard back from Dreamhost saying it was their fault and they've fixed the problem. I should be back up in a couple of hours. Whew!
Thanks for helping me spread the word.
As to your MT question, there are two ways to do this. One is to put everything in the Entry Body box like normal, then put a short description in the Excerpt box (which is the way Polstate contributors do it). That puts the Excerpt on the index page, and readers have to click the "Full Post" button (or whatever you configure it to say) to read the main entry.
The other way is to put some things in Entry Body and some others in Extended Entry. That puts Entry Body text on the main page, and a More link to see the whole thing. Note that in either case, clicking on or typing in the permalink to the post will show the whole thing. In addition, you'll see the whole thing in Preview mode.
Hope that answers your question. If not, you may have a bug that I don't know about. In that case, I highly recommend the MT Support Forum, which has saved my bacon more than once. Good luck!
Thanks for the help, and glad it's getting cleared up. I'll be out of town this weekend, too.
I'm back! Thanks again for the help.
