(Just as a tease, we have put a poll in the field and will have result for you tomorrow. We will be doing more polls and research as the 2008 elections get closer. - promoted by Matt Glazer)
Sen. Hillary Clinton has a wide lead in New Hampshire in the new ARG poll out today. She maintains a narrow lead over former Sen. John Edwards in Iowa where she has picked up the support of former Gov. Tom Vilsack.
A total of 23 states may hold primaries on February 5, 2008. By the end of the day as many as 50% of the delegates will have been chosen. The end of the long primary season is changing the game plans of all candidates as they figure out how to put their resources into the larger delegate rich states and to assess if Iowa and New Hampshire will have as much impact as they had in the past.
The presidential primary system as we have known it for 35 years is dead. History books will record that the era that began with the Democratic National Committee's post-1968 reforms ended Aug. 19, 2006 at the hands of the very same DNC.
The new Cook Political Report poll taken 2/15-18 shows Hillary Clinton 22 points ahead with 42%. Barack Obama is in second place with 20% followed closely by John Edwards with 16%. Bill Richardson is now in fourth place with 5%. The rest of the field has 1% each except for Chris Dodd who has less than 1%.
We did the beta launch on December 1 of a new progressive netroots site BlueSunbelt.Com for the South and Sunbelt states. We are aiming for a formal launch on January 1. We have the site up and running and are in the process of working out any kinks before the formal launch. We need some testers who would like to post diaries and comments during the beta period.
I hope each of you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is also a time to think of those in need. Please consider volunteering for a charity, visiting a hospital, nursing home, or shut-in, or donating to a charity.
Some worthy charities I support are on ActGive which also lists many thousands of other charities around the country.
