Perry and the Nation

by: rickthefireguy

Wed Jul 13, 2011 at 00:05 PM CDT

When will the American people realize that about the only way Texans have of removing an unwanted and disliked governor is to push then off into the waiting arm of the American people (GRIN).

The most striking examples of this was G. W. Bush the younger and we all know what that brought  the country!

Lets all  hope that the nation doesn't make the same mistake twice!

The missing fact surrounding Taxation here in Texas and for that matter throughout the Nation

by: rickthefireguy

Tue Mar 08, 2011 at 11:04 AM CST

Yes i realize that no one likes taxes but taxation is the blood that runs our daily lives.

First off , can any one even remember when last there was a increase in federal, state or local taxation?

I can't!

What I can't fully understand is why the people fail to understand or even rise the single most under reported fact for additional taxation!

So what is this missing fact what no one speaks of?

Simply put,  today there are many more people living here in Texas and in the nation then there was when last taxes were raised.

Yet the republican party expect the state and the nation to move forward with less income  per capital then before.

Bottom line, Texas and the nation will have less to spend on all things needed to run a state or nation on a daily basic.

I for one am feed up with driving on pitted roads and sending kids to what passes as schools not to mention the failing healthcare now offered to the poor of this state. It simply immoral!

Is the recall process alive and well here in Texas?

by: rickthefireguy

Tue Mar 08, 2011 at 10:37 AM CST

Please tell me I'm wrong.

But I fear there is not a process for recalling office holders here in Texas.

If by change, I'm right and Texans can not recall their officer holders. Then who and what party was responsible for this this gross oversight?

Also what can be done to get the recall process restored here in Texas?

When was the last time recall was used here in Texas (if ever) successfully and who was removed from office?

Forty or more  years of one party rule is more than enough to justify a strong recall process!

Interesting Poll...

by: rickthefireguy

Mon Sep 07, 2009 at 00:09 PM CDT

Morning All

Your recent poll titles "Who would you support in the Democratic primary for Governor?" was quite interesting but... who are these guys?

The only name that caught my eye was Kinky Friedman's... guess I've been voting for Chris Bell to much of late.

By the way, why aren't there more women on the list and who's the gay candidate?

Guess, I just not up on the latest progressive who's who here in Texas so...

Might I suggest a series over the next couple of week interdicting these folks and other possibilities... such as a good old progressive or two in the mix besides Kinky Friedman?

The time has come to turn the state blue and it's the morally correct thing to do!

For those who think the term morally correct is to strong, here what republicans (with small letters) have given us over the years...

Texas is dead last (that's 50 out of 50 states) in healthcare... and that's not expectable!

Here in Houston 24% of Houstonians have no health insurance... and that's not expectable!

Just a through ot two!

by: rickthefireguy

The folks over at http://www.electoral-vote.com/... saying that TEXAS is to close to call for the presidential race McCain 51% - Obama 48%

THAT big...

I've said for a while that Texas was in play.  By the way 4 years ago these folkjs called for Bush when all were saying otherwise...

A Reaction to BOR's Predictions...

by: rickthefireguy

Sat Oct 25, 2008 at 09:00 AM CDT

I just looked at BOR's predictions and was saddened to say the least...

In a year where the nation is positioned to move away from "Bushism," the republican brand of fascism and ahead into a brighter future.

It look like "Bushism" will remain in force, here in Texas is anyones guess.

The enlightenment of Obama and company will remain a distant hope for the typical Texan for a good while longer.

Texas will again stubbornly hold to it's so called "family values' but just what are these so called family values in 2008?

In my mind, todays so called family values include bigotry in the way we deal with race, contempt for others, divisiveness in our actions, fundamentalism gone amuck, hypocrisy in our thinking and our actions, hatefulness that radiates from our actions or lack of action, intolerance of others, and skepticism of anything new or different, to name just a few.

On Nov 5th, Texas will awake to find itself alone and facing an ever darking future.

I question just how much more "bushism", republican fascism, the state can endure before it awakes and see the need for enlightenment?

Could it be...

by: rickthefireguy

Thu Oct 23, 2008 at 08:27 AM CDT

Could it be that the State Polls have it wrong?

Might Texas really be in Play?

Will the youth vote turn Texas Blue?

I still think the pollers are missing the youth vote and moderate republican who are so pissed off over the issue of what bushism has created that the will finally flip back to their democratic roots. Remember that in this a lot of so called republican were at one time strong democrats who went with the flow of civil rights... might it be time for many to fall back to there families true roots?

My son is in his third year at Baylor of all places and tells me that everyone he know off has had it with bushism and there hateful ways, wants to turn the page and voting to a person for Obama. If that the thinking in Baylor what's it like at UT Austin?

Obama rules and the pollers don't get it!

Just a through or two...

TEXAS IS IN PLAY

by: rickthefireguy

Fri Oct 10, 2008 at 10:47 PM CDT

I'm still convented that in the end Texas will be in play one way or another.

It's my gut feeling that the polls are not reporting the youth vote and kids like my son is feed up with the republican and want real change... change that only Obama can provide...

On other isses...

Time magazine is about to release a study this week I think, of why people vote and how they vote. The finding that shocked me the most was the one where 29% of Americans vote for a candidate who's positions are counter to the best interest of the voter themselves and the individual voters doesn't realize that he or she is voting against there best interest!

In other words, it possible to be voting for a party out of habit, who positions on issues have changed over time and are no longer in line with what is best for the individual voter at this point in time!

Thus 40 something voters vs 60 something voter has very different needs.

I see this election boiling down to a few question and a single issue... the state of the nation's economy!

Question... the question about one's income?

If your reading this post and makes more than $250,000.00, then please by all means vote republican but if you make less than $250,000.00, as I trust most do, then to vote republican is to vote against your best interest!

Fact: Obama plans to remove all seniors from the federal tax rolls... in other words no increase in your federal taxes, no federal taxes at all!

Question... healthcare?

Fact: Obama's plans for healthcare will not effect seniors and their healthcare where your covered is provided by a private plans, a company plans, medicare and/or medicaid or a combination of all four. In fact, because he plans to instill the congressional healthcare program as the national standard, medicare should improve while the lesser medicaid program should most likely go away in favor or medicare..

In closing, do take a moment and reflect on the following then ask yourself if there is truth in this, then think about before heading off to vote this year...

If your child or love one finds themselves failing at something and not willing to except responsibility... you don't reward them do you?

If your co-worker, employee or friend finds themselves failing at something and not willing to except responsibility... you don't reward them do you?

Then ask yourself...

"Why should the American people reward the republican party and their enablers for their failures of the recent past and for the countless lies and half-trues, the party, their enablers, and there candidates have been spurring of late, not to mention the hate mongering and bigotry, that we all can look forward to in the coming weeks?"

I trust some if not all will enjoy this little bit of reflection.

As a progressive, we do welcome all who are feed up with recent events, wants real change and would like to focus on the nation's many needs over the needs of the rest of the world for a change!

Have a good one... Just a through or two

Rick
