One day Chelsea Clinton was sitting in an airport awaiting her boarding call when in the distance she saw some soldiers returning from their tour of duty in Iraq.
As the soldiers approached, Chelsea stood up and walked over to one of the soldiers and asked, “Sir, after completing your tour of duty in Iraq, what frightens you the most?”
The soldier quickly replied, “Osama, Obama and yo’ mama.”

As a Denton resident I have become generally immune to this sort of nonsense, but I've finally reached my limit. Silent tolerance of this type of hate emboldens the authors and leads our children to believe this represents acceptable behavior. Below is a copy of my response.
Below is a copy of the letter I sent today to members of the editorial
board of the Dallas Morning News concerning their endorsement of my
opponent. The Dallas Morning is well within their right to endorse
whomever they choose, but when they fail to meet even the most minimum
standards of ethical journalism we must never fail to hold them
accountable. As someone who aspires to public office I have a
responsibility not only to hold myself to the high ethical standards of
the Democratic party I inherited from people like Ann Richards, Henry B.
Gonzales, and Barbara Jordan, but also to hold others to those standards
when they fall short. Thank you for your continued support and don't stop
fighting for what you believe in.

Democrat for State Representative District 64
I am heartbroken to discover our state has lost a great leader, and I have lost my hero. I proudly worked as a volunteer on Gov. Richards 1996 gubernatorial campaign, which was an experience that without a doubt changed my life. A few weeks after the election I saw a bumper sticker on a car that passed me on the street that went a long way towards helping me shake off that loss. It read: “I miss Ann already!” Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Yesterday we marked the fifth anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, 2001. Like many of you I spent some time remembering where I was, the fear and sadness I felt, and the many phone calls I made to determine whether my loved ones were safe. However, the memory that keeps returning to me more than the others is one from my childhood, long before that terrible day.
I am pleased to announce that the Texas League of Conservation Voters (TLCV), a coalition of Texans committed to clean air, water, and access to public land, water, fish and wildlife, has endorsed my candidacy for Texas State Representative District 64. Today more than ever it is essential that the people of Denton County elect a representative who will address the important environmental challenges our community faces head on in order to safeguard our health, natural resources, and economy.
Last week marked the start of fall classes again for students at the University of North Texas. This time of the year is marked by the return of college football, the beginnings of a break in the summer heat, and tuition payments. I’m sure my parents are glad they aren’t a check to UNT for $5,120.55 for tuition, room and board, and fees. The bad news is that just covers this semester and you still haven’t bought books yet. For families searching for relief and thinking about Texas Women’s University, don’t worry they’ll pay $3,663.00 for this semester. If that sounds like a big number to you it’s because it is, and for more and more hard working Texas students and families the effect has been to push a college education out of their reach.
