White set to Announce Sen Run Next Week!

by: benhur

Fri Dec 12, 2008 at 06:41 PM CST

The Hou Chronicle reports tonight Bill White will run for the senate seat should Kay Bailey vacate it this summer. Funny tidbit in the article-White didnt tip off the DSCC of his plans and they are surprised. Sharp met with the DSCC a couple fof weeks ago to try and secure their support. White severely complicates matters for Sharp and the DSCC. This will be intersting. It looks like everyone wants to run for senate and not guv, so far...

Former Congressman Charlie Stenholm Endorses Hillary Clinton

Posted: Feb 12, 2008 01:42 PM CST

Former Congressman Charlie Stenholm announced his endorsement of Hillary Clinton for President Tuesday.

"Hillary has the type of pragmatic leadership we need to get our country back on track," said Stenholm. "Hillary's always been a 'doer,' and she has the experience we need to lead our country on Day One. My wife Cindy and I are proud to support Hillary and look forward to campaigning for her throughout Texas."

"I am honored to have Charlie's support," said Hillary. "Charlie has spent a lifetime fighting for our Farm Families and is one of our nation's most respected and voices on the importance of balancing our nation's budget.. I look forward to having his help spreading my message throughout the state of Texas."

Congressman Stenholm, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for 13 terms, was born in Stamford, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University. Congressman Stenholm was elected in 1978 to serve the 32-county, 17th District of Texas in Congress.

Mr. Stenholm is a strong advocate for agriculture and budget matters, serving on the House Agriculture Committee for his 26-year career and as the Committee's ranking Democrat for his last eight years in Congress. While in Congress, he earned a reputation for building bipartisan alliances in agriculture, resource conservation, food safety, Social Security, energy, health care, and budget. Stenholm is also one of the founding members or the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Caucus.

Jackson Lee Backs Hillary

by: benhur

Tue May 15, 2007 at 01:39 PM CDT

just announced on the chron-
one of the leading african american women in america will back hillary in 2008. a well known figure who represents barbara jordan's former district she has led the progressive cause for years here in texas. most remember her for her words against the impeachment of bill clinton, as she was the sole black woman on the house judiciary committee.  if the primary is moved up here in texas I expect she will be a phenominal asset to HRC here....

Jackson Lee endorses Clinton
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has decided to go with Sen. Hillary Clinton in the race for president.

http://blogs.chron.c...
In turn, Clinton has named Jackson Lee a national campaign co-chair and Gulf States regional co-chair.

"Senator Clinton has a great love for America and has a deep understanding of the issues that face our nation," Jackson Lee said. "I look forward to having a strategic role in the campaign and helping this dedicated public servant become the next President of the United States."

The endorsement is significant in the sense that Jackson Lee is among the first high profile black elected officials to get behind Clinton, while many are mulling over whether to support phenom presidential candidate and Sen. Barack Obama. Jackson Lee hosted an event for Clinton when she came in town and appeared with Obama at several events when he visited Houston earlier this year.

"Sheila is a highly respected leader on children and family issues and the needs of this nation," Clinton said. "I'm delighted that she will help lead our efforts nationally and expand our outreach across the United States."

Rick Perry: "Non-Christians Condemned to Hell"

by: benhur

Mon Nov 06, 2006 at 01:14 AM CST

( - promoted by Cody Yocom)

The day before Election Day Rick Perry I believe has finally hit the all time low. I wish he made it a week ago as I think these comments are very damaging, at least to us Texans who are not of the brand of christianity Perry ascribes to. The DMN reports Perry agreeing that those who do not accept Christ will go to hell. This is terrible intolerance for a man who is governor of a state with Jews, Muslims, and so many other faiths. I plan to email this story to the local Houston media as I think the voters deserve to hear this one before they pull the lever. This is scary. Im Jewish, so guess the Guv thinks Im going to hell.  More below..
