(The Obama supporter who wrote this is not happy with Watson's MSNBC performance. While I disagree with his presidential endorsement, let's all be sure we remember that he is one of the best Democrats in the Texas Senate and that will not change, no matter the result of this election. - promoted by David Mauro)
Who in the world decided to put Senator Kirk Watson on CNN last night as an Obama backer? He was totally unprepared, and hurt the Obama cause. He made the Black congresswoman from Ohio, who supports Hillary, look great. While I like Senator Watson, he should know better than to get on the air unprepared. We need all the help we can get in order to win Texas.
Watson said his strikeout on Mathews' repeated query on Obama's legislative accomplishments brought to mind the joke about the deer caught in a truck's headlights. The punchline has the frozen deer saying: "Lord. Lord. Ford!"
Reminded that Mathews said on the air that Watson obviously had nothing to say, Watson laughed. "Can you imagine Kirk Watson with nothing to say? And you wonder why I think it was just a dream."
Our educational system is one of the most important things in our society. Gov. Perry and the right-of-center Rs continue to politicize the State Board of Education, instead of focusing on ensuring the provision of the highest quality education that we can have for our schoolkids. Instead of appointing someone who has a balanced, moderate perspective and policies for education, Perry has appointed someone known for promoting ideology, instead of facts and tools to make Texas one of the states that leads in education excellence. And now we find out that another member of the State Board, David Bradley, is being investigated by the AG's Office. I see this in the Quorum Report [http/www.quorumreport.com]. Let's have some ethical and honest behavior in those that are leading the education of our children.
I’ve been a volunteer for years at the Texas Freedom Network. I’m glad they are working hard to do the research and educate the general public as to what the religious right is up to, including trying hard to put their biased and often non-factual religious messages into textbooks and classrooms. I’m especially excited that TFN is reaching out to the university community. If students don’t get involved now, then their world will be very different when they get out of school and their children will be attending public schools controlled by the extreme religious right.
