Why the Travis Co. DA's Race Matters

by: Richard Morrison

Mon Jan 14, 2008 at 01:14 PM CST

Sure everybody is pretty focused on the Presidential primary right now. But there's at least one other primary race that should matter to every patriotic American - the race to replace Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle.

Who will replace the man who brought down Tom DeLay?  And why should anyone outside of Austin care?

Simple -- because legal battle over DeLay's campaign to subvert democracy with illegal corporate contributions and mid-decade redistricting schemes continues. DeLay and three accomplices are currently indicted on multiple felony counts, including money laundering. Several corporations have already entered guilty pleas for their role in the 2002 Texas election scandals.

Who Is Larry Joe Doherty?

by: Richard Morrison

Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 09:03 AM CDT

( - promoted by Todd Hill)

President Bush has pledged to veto the renewal of SCHIP - the Children's Health Insurance Program.  And while the bill passed the House of Representatives, Bush is emboldened because the House lacks a veto-proof majority by approximately 12 votes.

One of those votes belongs to Texas' Mike McCaul, who has rubberstamped Bush's every move, from denying children's health insurance to supporting, funding, and apologizing for this misguided war.  So what's emboldening Mike McCaul?  It's simple, a gerrymandered district drawn by the hands of Tom Delay.

I can tell you firsthand that taking on a well-funded Republican incumbent is no job for the weak-willed or easily intimidated, and that's why I'm proud to endorse Larry Joe Doherty - a Democrat who will unseat Mike McCaul and send a message of what real Texas values are.

First Things First

by: Richard Morrison

Wed Jun 13, 2007 at 01:30 PM CDT

(Vote for Melissa! Bumped again! - promoted by KT)

Friends,

I've been talking up my friend State Rep. Rick Noriega as the person who's going to beat John Cornyn in 2008. But first things first, we've got another Noriega to get elected first, Rick's wife Melissa. She ably took his place in the Legislature when he served our country in Afghanistan in 2005 and now she's running for Houston City Council.

Even if you don't live in Houston, this race matters.

Let's Help a People Powered Candidate in Houston

by: Richard Morrison

Wed Mar 28, 2007 at 02:12 PM CDT

(I've just made my second donation to Melissa who's in a great place to win this seat. She's a true TexRoots supported candidate! - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

Thanks so much for your encouraging response to our efforts to draft a people powered candidate -- State Representative and veteran Rick Noriega -- to run against John Cornyn for U.S. Senate. The response has been very exciting, everyone  from the biggest national bloggers to Democratic power brokers is talking  about our efforts.

Right now he most important thing we can do to help convince Rick to get into the race against John Cornyn is to help his wife Melissa Noriega in her race for a seat on the Houston City Council.

The deadline for donations to go on our 30-day out report is  APRIL 2nd!! That is next Monday. Time is short and urgency is the key here.

Introducing the Man Who Will Beat John Cornyn

by: Richard Morrison

Fri Mar 16, 2007 at 01:16 PM CDT

(Texas hero Richard Morrison brings you some information about a newly created draft effort which has been hinted at this week. Be sure to donate to The Fund to Defeat John Cornyn so we have the back of whomever wins the primary and vote in the poll on the right sidebar. - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

In 2004, when I challenged Tom Delay at the height of his power, it was seen as a fool's errand.  The Majority Leader of the House was considered unassailable.

I and my campaign team assailed him nonetheless, because it was a job that needed doing. When  we held him to 55%, it was clear that Fortress Delay had more than a few cracks.

In 2008, we have another job that needs doing.  Time to replace John Cornyn in the Senate.  And Cornyn's numbers  show him to be vulnerable to a strong, people-powered  candidate from the Democratic side.

Is there such a candidate?  I believe there is.   I'm asking you to help me draft him into the service of his state and his country once again.

Gov. Perry worried about Fort Bend County going BLUE

by: Richard Morrison

Wed Sep 20, 2006 at 10:56 AM CDT

Since you last heard from me, we are closing in on our goal of raising $25,000 to get our attack ad on cable TV.  In less than two weeks we have raised $5,128.25.  With your help we have the Goper’s in Fort Bend County running scared.  Even Gov. Rick Perry is worried about Fort Bend.

The Fort Bend Herald, Fort Bend County’s largest newspaper, reported last Friday that the local republicans are terrified of us democrats.

http://www.herald-co...

“The Democratic Party in Fort Bend County this year is well funded and has been highly active, said more than one Republican candidate at the Fort Bend County Republican Party Executive Committee meeting…”

Saying the "D word" in Fort Bend County

by: Richard Morrison

Tue Sep 05, 2006 at 00:49 PM CDT

(Need I say more... - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

We have produced an ad on behalf of the Fort Bend County Democrats here in the great state of Texas - and we're using the "D word" -Democrat.  For those of you who don't know, Fort Bend County is the home (or former home) of Tom Delay.

I've thought about this ad for a while and also thought about how important it is to attack the republicans for what they have done and to tell the voters to vote democrat.
