Nikita's Shoe

by: PatriciaAJones

Sun Sep 14, 2008 at 02:59 PM CDT

Nikita, Nikita, we sure do miss you.
You now must be smiling since you pounded your shoe.
Our country is being destroyed from within!
Washington no longer listens to average men.
Once upon a time there used to be
Only Uncle Sam, Lee Ioacocca and me.
Now without so much as a howdy do
Comes Uncle Freddie and Aunt Fannie too!
The table's too full.  I must protest.
There's not enough food to feed the rest.
General Motors and Ford and even Ma Bell
Are outsourcing jobs-may they all rot in hell.
Bring our brave troops home and stop this wild spending.
Or do you intend our destruction to be never-ending?
What's left to feed us-to feed me and feed you?
Possibly only what's left of old Nikita's shoe.
Ya'll please send money 'cause now I've been placed
On a list of subversives.  That truth must be faced.
It's sure been nice knowing each one of you
And if you can't send money, send Nikita's shoe!

Lipstick on a Pig

by: PatriciaAJones

Thu Sep 11, 2008 at 02:46 PM CDT

I am sick to death of hearing all this hoopla about pigs wearing lipstick!  Senator McCain's camp has been beating this one to death.  I think Obama should find some kind of a pig.  If living, have it on a nice leash.  Put lipstick all over the pig's snout and have lipstick drawn kisses all over the pig-then hand it to Senator McCain!  As he gives the pig to McCain, Obama should say, "Here, you can talk about this as an issue while I talk about the real issues that concern America."

What's Going On?

by: PatriciaAJones

Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 01:12 PM CDT

Have you recently received a letter from your local tax assessor collector?  Did it say the apprised value of your property was going to be increased?  Are you paying more to have your car inspected?  Did you notice an increase in your hunting and fishing licenses lately?  With the price of gas going up daily, can you drive to the store for the groceries you can no longer afford to buy?  Are you up to your neck in credit card debt trying to make ends meet?  Is the home foreclosure wolf at your door?  These are problems our entire nation faces.  Let's bring these matters a little closer to home..........
When more than one-half million acres are taken off the tax rolls across the state because of the Trans-Texas Corridors (plural)   www.CorridorWatch.org  , how do you think that lost revenue will be replaced?  Our state and locally elected "leaders" know they will have to make provisions for this lost money.  What choice do they have other than to raise all rates on everything?  Never mind that these Corridors will be operated by foreign investors-giving complete control of our infrastructure over to those whom some may find suspicious by their country of origin.  Facts are facts.  Yes, we are supposed to be the melting pot of the world, but after 9/11 most of us have begun to wonder not IF but WHEN it will happen again.
Here is my spiel if you'd like to use it:
THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION
Article 1-Bill of Rights
SECTION 2-INHERENT POLITICAL POWER; REPUBLIC FORM OF GOVERNMENT
All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.
What part of that don't we understand?
WE should have the power to alter, reform or abolish the government of Texas
AS WE MAY THINK EXPEDIENT.
Please visit www.InitiativeForTexas.org and sign the online petition!
Have your voter ID card handy.
You will need to enter your TX Senate and TX House District numbers.
Please, also enter your voter ID number.  It adds VALIDITY to the petition.

I & R As Part of the TX Democratic Platform

by: PatriciaAJones

Thu May 29, 2008 at 00:17 PM CDT

Over the past several months, a small group of us has been contacting every Democratic Chairperson across Texas. Our main goal is to acquire binding statewide Initiative and Referendum for Texas voters.  We quickly found the Democrats warmed to the idea of I & R whereas the Republicans did not.  As a Democratic member of this nonpartisan coalition, I regard our party's participation in this effort as an avenue to greater political prominence in the state.  There has never been a more effective tool to reform political institutions and practices and to represent the will of the people independent of their legislatures than INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM.  We believe this movement is essential to the Texas citizen's urgent need for reform.  I & R is also an essential tool needed to roll back our special interest driven ever expanding encroachments on our prosperity, possessions, and freedoms!
We believe Initiative and Referendum will bring forth a victory for the Democratic Party in 2008 and for a stimulus victory for the Texas voters because they have found an advocate within the rank and file of the Democratic Party of Texas.
If you have any information about this endeavor or if you will be a delegate at the convention, and you favor Initiative and Referendum as being part of the Democratic Platform, please contact me.
I'd appreciate any and all comments about this effort.
