Why Labor Matters

by: Dan Grant

Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 10:43 AM CST

I am proud to have received the enthusiastic endorsement of the Texas AFL-CIO and other Labor groups representing more than 230,000 working men and women across the state.

Every progressive movement in our nation's modern history has come about because of Organized Labor's courage and steadfast refusal to take its eye off the ball -- protecting the health and well-being of the great American middle class.

Laboring Under Apprehension

by: Josh Berthume

Tue Mar 06, 2007 at 10:09 AM CST

Cross-posted from The Texas Blue

I come from a union family, so it has been a source of disappointment for me to observe the decline in union membership that's been underway for some time. There's a new bill up for consideration in the House which makes it easier for workers to unionize, and it is meeting expected resistance from business interests.

Bill White Saves the Day

by: Texas Nate

Mon Nov 20, 2006 at 11:04 AM CST

Looks like Mayor White saved the day with some behind the scenes arm twisting in Houston that brought the janitors' strike to a happy conclusion.
Well done.
