The Texas Republican Party is on a mean-spirited, heartless and cruel mission of SLASHeconomics that is unnecessary and uncalled for. It is blindly cutting the budgets for schools and social services with absolutely no regard for the devastating long term consequences of such cuts.
Rick Perry and his far right Republicans refuse to touch the Rainy Day money for next year's budget though this is precisely the time in which we should tap into such funds. Instead the Republicans have chosen to stockpile the money and rob children of their futures.
Outside of the box thinking, complex problem solving, the ability to explore creative and unique alternatives and a modicum of compassion are called for during dire and desperate economic times like these.
Are Texas Republican lawmakers made of the right stuff to lead? Is it capable of throwing away its memorized talking point campaign rhetoric, forget about its Obamacare and federal government bashing monologues, dismiss its highly paid message masters, unglue its lips from its sugar daddy donor's backsides and engage its collective brain to do what is right and work on behalf of all Texans?
Let's take a peek at the legislation proposed in Austin so far by the super majority Party.
Readers can decide whether or not Republican lawmakers are made of the right stuff.
Lately we have been hearing a lot of squawking and screeching emanating from the conservative right wing about a revolution.
This is rather perplexing given that we recently had an election in which the elected President won rather substantially without the need for voter caging, voter suppression, election fraud, recounts, recount shut downs, lawsuits and the Supreme Court. Nor was it necessary to bring in the likes of a Swift Boat attack machine and a corrupted Secretary of State (R-OH) to deliver a win in a razor thin, close election.
And despite all of the problems we face in these dire and stressful times the President's approval ratings remain in the 60's. Today it is at 67%. Today an ABC/Washington Post poll also reveals 65% trust President Obama to handle relations with Muslim nations.
So, what is the problem? Why is a revolution necessary now?
The Nation magazine says the SwiftBoaters who funded the smearing of John Kerry in 2004 are back...in fact they never left...and are preparing to once again fund a smear campaign against Democratic candidates.

Bob Perry, who, along with T Boone Pickens and Harold Simmons, provides the big bucks to the SwiftBoat campaign, spends 10's of millions of dollars funding reactionary politicians. He gets those dollars from home buyers in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and McAllen, one dollar at a time, one house or townhouse at a time....people who work hard for that money and ironically wind up helping to fund a political paradigm that promotes a burdensome health care system, denies us all clean air and a sustainable environment, promotes tragic, unnecessary, $trillion dollar wars and fails to protect victims of natural disasters, like Katrina.
One's home, whether an efficiency apartment or a large house, is one's sanctuary. And it's very sad when people who work hard to pay for their home wind up contributing funds to vicious SwiftBoat attacks intended to support candidates and policies which undermine their well being and security.
