Stimulate the Economy - Give your Tax Rebate to a Democratic Candidate

by: Eric Roberson

Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 11:08 AM CDT

Today the U.S. Treasury starts mailing out tax rebates to stimulate the economy.  see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/tax...

For many families and taxpayers, this raises an important question - "What to do with this Check."

May I suggest one way might be to donate part of it to a Democratic Candidate, your local Democratic Party, or to a worthy charity of your choice.

Tell us again, Mr. Roberson how my call for FEC inquiry was bogus

by: Steve Love

Mon Mar 24, 2008 at 04:01 PM CDT

It was just a week or so ago that Mr. Roberson was all so holier-than-thou and called my call for the FEC to look into his questionable campaign practices off-base and without merit.
Well, guess what folks? I just checked his schedule and all those GOTV phone parties that he had scheduled for his boss's office have all been moved to the law office of another of his supporters...someone who has NEVER VOTED IN A DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY. [Isn't it interesting how many people who have never voted Democratic want to join with the candidate who has never voted Democratic. And this is the guy who is going to rally EVERYONE to his side?]
Why do you think he moved his campaign events?  Most likely because his boss was not willing to make an in-kind donation of the use of his phone system.  We will see if the other shoe falls and we find that his boss is not willing to have him run his campaign out of his office since that, too, is a questionable campaign practice.
Stay tuned, folks, there just may be other surprises for the "expert" on FEC rules the guy who keep the phones hot to the FEC office but didn't bother to read the rules.  :-) This is STEVE LOVE and I approve this message.  :-)

TX-32: We can beat Pete Sessions in November

by: CoolOnion

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 00:37 PM CST

( - promoted by Phillip Martin)

And then, there were two--in TX-32, there will be a runoff election between Steve Love and Eric Roberson on April 8.

For once, the numbers are on our side.  In looking at the polling numbers from Dallas County Elections, I found that Pete Sessions got 28,718 votes in the Republican primary.  The Love-Burns-Roberson team got 44,628 votes!  In the primary, anyway, TX-32 Democrats have finally outpolled Republicans!

Now, it's up to us to think strategically and pick the candidate who can stand up to Pete Sessions in a debate, challenge him on his supposed "strengths," (patriotism, family values, et al), and beat the living crap out of him in November.

TDP: Help out Ciro Rodriguez and Anthony DiNovo

by: John McClelland

Fri Dec 08, 2006 at 01:42 PM CST

From Boyd Richie today via email:

Dear fellow Democrats,

Although most races were decided a month ago, Texans still have the chance to elect two more great Democrats this month. Here's an update on these races and information on how you can help deliver two additional Republican defeats:

CD-23: Ciro Rodriguez

Ciro Rodriguez is running a tough race against Henry Bonilla, who has been a rubberstamp for President Bush and Tom DeLay . I'm proud to say the T DP is part of a coalition of Democratic organizations and labor officials who are working hard to provide real representation to the people of the 23rd District and send Ciro back to  Washington .

But Republicans are spending millions of dollars to air misleading ads, so Ciro needs all of our support.  oday, I will be in San Antonio to spend the day with the campaign, knock on doors and talk to voters. Here are a few ways you can help:

- Make a contribution at http://www.cirodrodr...

- Sign-up to phone bank or canvass by calling (210) 928-2476 in San Antonio

- If you live in another county in CD-23, call your County Chair to join their activities.

Early Vote has been extended through Saturday in Bexar and other counties. If you live in the 23rd, make sure and vote!

HD-29: Anthony DiNovo

In HD-29 (including Brazoria and Matagorda counties), Dr. Anthony DiNovo is facing three Republicans in a special election to replace Glenda Dawson, who passed away before the election.

As a doctor, husband and father, Anthony is focusing his campaign on the need for affordable health care for all Texans and ensuring a quality education for our children. To learn more about Anthony and his position on the issues, please check out his website at http://www.dinovofor... .

Also, please make a contribution and volunteer.  Anthony is fortunate to enjoy support throughout his district and is running a strong campaign with the help of a TDP field staffer, but can use more boots on the ground. With a great candidate, a crowded field and expected low turnout on December 19th, Texas Dems have the opportunity to pull off an upset.

Thank you for everything you've done already to help Democrats win in Texas . I wouldn't be asking again if the stakes weren't so high and the opportunities weren't so great. Texas Democrats won many races on November 7th …let's keep the momentum up!

Your friend and fellow Democrat,
Boyd L. Richie

TX-32 Will Pryor and Real Leadership

See prior diaries about Will Pryor and the 32nd Congressional District here, and here

I attended an event with Will Pryor last week where I heard him speak about issues that really matter to all of us.  It was refreshing to hear somebody actually take on the mantle of leadership by being a genuine leader and speaking from the heart.  Will took the time to meet with everyone following the event and talk with them face to face.  It was truly a pleasure to talk with the next representative for the 32nd Congressional District.

People sometimes ask me, “why is this race so important to you?”  After all, Will’s race isn’t one of the top watched races in the country, and it’s certainly not getting the big-time help from the DCCC.

This race is important to me because we have to break this cycle of learned helplessness in Dallas.  Dallas and the 32nd district will be Democratic districts again, the question is simply when.

TX-32: Pete Sessions Weasles out of Debate!

by: CoolOnion

Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 10:24 AM CDT

(cross posted at Daily Kos)

Last night, I attended what I thought was going to be a debate between Will Pryor and Pete Sessions.

As it turned out, the format of the debate was dictated to the debate sponsor at the last minute by Pete Sessions.  Instead of a "give and take" exchange, each candidate started with a prepared statement, then answered written questions from the audience, chosen and read by the moderator.

Pete Sessions went first, and when his time was done, he left!  He didn't stay to hear Will Pryor's presentation, he didn't "work the crowd," he didn't stick around to answer questions, as he promised to do during his presentation time.  He cut and run!  More below the fold...

TX-32 Winning the Amway Way

by: Whiskey Sam

Tue Oct 03, 2006 at 10:29 AM CDT

Update - YIKES - a serious formatting error said something I didn't want it to say!

Cross posted at The Daily Kos

I recently attended a candidates forum in Dallas to hear Chris Bell and other Texas Democrats talk about their plan for victory.  The message was driven home that in order to break the Republican stranglehold on our state, we're going to have to get the word out about these great candidates to our friends, our families, and our co-workers.  Not only that, but we're going to have to get them to get the word out to THEIR friends, families, and co-workers.

They called it winning the Amway Way.  I think of it as ripples in a pond.  Use whatever metaphor you want, it is the basis of any winning political ground game.

I've diaried about Will Pryor before.  As many of you know, Will is running against incumbent Pete Sessions (R-Corruption), who was recently named one of the most corrupt members of the 109th Congress by the nonpartisan Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

Needless to say, we desperately need a change in the 32nd district.

[TX-32] Get to Know Will Pryor

by: Whiskey Sam

Tue Sep 26, 2006 at 07:54 AM CDT

(It seems at times that every race in Texas is in play for the Democrats and yet little has been said about the very close race in CD-32 (Martin Frost's old seat). Will Pryor is raising a ton of cash, working hard in this gerrymandered district, and all in a year that has more seats in play than one can easily remember. - promoted by Matt Glazer)

Cross posted at The Daily Kos

We'll leave no district behind, because no district is hopeless.

I grew up in North Dallas, in an area that is part of the 32nd Congressional District currently represented by Pete Sessions.  For my entire life I’ve lived with a sense of learned helplessness that the 32nd is Republican, and that’s just the way it is.  I refuse to believe this garbage anymore.  I know enough Democrats in this part of Texas…enough people who say the same things that I say about the way things are in the 32nd…that I’m starting to believe that the dark days of regressive politics have an end in sight.

If this optimism is going to have any payoff, the learned helplessness of Dallas Democrats must be shed in favor of a collective togetherness and effort.

Let me introduce you to the 32nd Congressional District in Texas, and Candidate Will Pryor.
