Longview Denies Safe Homes For Child Abuse Victims

by: CG4ET

Fri Aug 10, 2007 at 07:14 PM CDT

The good Christian people of Longview have now taken to denying homes to children who are victims of abuse.

Willowbend RTC, as it is known, provides a safe home and treatment for children who have been victims of abuse. According to Willowbend Administrator Shane Harrold: "These are kids that have been through the worst experiences you could go through next to being killed." You would think that our community would be proud that we had a program like the one offered by Willowbend.

Shari Pulliam, who works for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, has indicated that the state needs an expanded Willowbend facility.

Texas Democratic Convention SD1

(If you have reports from your district about the convention, feel free to post journals on them. Many of us were so busy at various part of the convention, it would be nice to hear the stories and other victories across the state. - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

I just arrived back home in Gregg County from the Democratic State Convention. This was my first time to experience a convention as County Chair and it was interesting, to say the least.

Gregg County started out last year with high hopes of filling the 29 delegate seats we had available. With momentum in our favor, and local interest growing daily, we had 25 sign up at the County Convention for Ft Worth. Unfortunately, we lost all but 8 because of a failed reservation system that left everyone wondering if they had a room until the last minute. It was very sad.
