Charles Soechting, under the guise of former State Democratic Chair, is circulating a letter endorsing republican Will Conley for Hays County Commissioner Precinct #3. This is news only in that he is using his former title in the endorsement.
A strong democratic candidate, Steve Klepfer, is running against Conley and he has the chops to do a great job for Hays County. Soechting is way out of bounds on this stunt.
Newly minted State Comptroller Susan Combs announced last week that the state's popular prepaid college tuition plan is broke and should be shut down forever - making the latest GOP tax hike on the middle-class permanent.
But where are Democratic voices standing up for the more than 158,000 families who are part of the plan and now face the prospect of being abandoned by yet another Republican privatization scheme?
(Though this issue was discussed on BOR when it was first discovered over a year ago, I'll promote it so y'all have something to jaw about until I'm back full time. More TDP coverage coming soon though! - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)
The following in the extended text was sent by email today by Dennis Speight in response to recent allegations that former TDP Chair Charles Schoeting misallocated $250,000.
I am not sure how Boyd Richie "fixed" any problem with the missing money, but we would have to commend the Sub-Committee on State Party Finance for holding future chairs accountable for their spending.
This is just another example of what is broken in the TDP. I'm sure there are many other things that need fixed.
(This race just got more interesting. In short, Glen Maxey explains below why he is choosing to be a candidate for Party Chair at the State Convention in June, but not the special election by the SDEC. This should get fun... - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)
