Barbara Radnofsky

Aging Prom Queen fails to mediate airline issues

by: StephenYellin

Tue Jul 25, 2006 at 02:21 PM CDT

( - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

Note: I am a friend of Barbara Ann Radnofsky, who's running to replace the "aging cheerleader", Kay Bailey Hutchison in the US Senate from Texas.

"Politics," Hubert Humphrey once said, "Is the art of the possible." He meant that while you must never compromise your beliefs, you must compromise to get legislation passed on occasion. And then there's Kay Bailey Hutchison (R/VA...err,TX), who apparently has warped that statement into "Politics is the art of making a fool out of yourself."

You see, Kay Bailey - the aging prom queen of Texas - has been trying to broker a compromise between the deuling lobbyists of American and Southwest Airlines. Her proposal  to repeal the "Wright Amendment" (after ex-Speaker Jim Wright) has sadly (for her) been annihilated in Congress.

Texroots: Help Barbara Ann Radnofsky at PAC for a Change

by: John McClelland

Fri Jul 07, 2006 at 06:33 PM CDT

A Barbara in the US Senate is willing to help another Barbara get the money to join the US Senate as well. Barbara Boxer's PAC for a Change is holding a vote to see who the next endorsed candidate will be. This will mean nationwide exposure and thousands of dollars funneling in.

Randofsky is currently in a distant 4th place out of 10. But we can change that. So please vote now!

Amazing students: Changing the Equation

by: Glen Maxey

Fri Jun 30, 2006 at 02:10 AM CDT

(Glen, like me, should be asleep at 2 am but of course we are not. Instead, we help change maps as explained below. He's spot on about the shifting of gears, too. - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

"This Party will be relevant when old guys like me quit trying to teach this amazing new generation of Democrats the failed techniques  of the past."

-- Glen Maxey, State Convention Speech

Today, I witnessed just that:  a relevant Party with an amazing group of young people who made John Courage the #2 candidate on Gov. Mark Warner’s MapChanger contest. (They came within a handful of votes of taking the #1 spot!)

You Are Map Changers

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Tue Jun 27, 2006 at 11:58 PM CDT

(John's in the top five! Let's keep voting him, and keep him there. Remember: order matters now folks. Let's keep 3 Texans in the Top 5 by voting the strategic ballot below! Voting is closed end of today... - promoted by Phillip Martin)

Let me just first say thank you for all you have done.

  • You have been part of a spirited contest for Party Chairman and now stories are being written across Texas about the unity that has resulted with Chris Bell hiring Glen Maxey to manage Field.
  • You have been part of the Texas Progressive Blog Alliance push to Activate ActBlue in Texas so every candidate can fundraise online and we can help them.
  • You have been part of Mark Warner's MapChangers contest and while we are not done yet, you have helped get Chris Bell and now Barbara Radnofsky into the Top 5!

In the next 2 days, you can show how 'relevent' Texas Democrats are, again, by helping to bump John Courage up a notch and into that 5th spot on the Map Changers contest.

The unified support of Texans across campaigns has made this happen at each step. Please vote and take information like the following into consideration.

Dear Fellow Texans,

Many of you have received emails or seen blog posts asking for votes for the Texan slate of candidates in the Mark Warner Mapchanger contest.

Thanks to the Texas Unity ticket, Chris Bell and Barbara Radnofsky have gotten into the Top 5, and appear poised to bring $5,000 to both of their campaigns.  It appears they are secure to remain in the top five!

John Courage (TX-21) is sitting RIGHT OUTSIDE of the Top 5. We have an opportunity to bring another $5,000 to Texas if we can get him into that 5th slot. We also want to ensure that Chris and Barbara stay where they are. If John gets into the Top 5, we will have a unique "Texas Triple Crown" with not only having three candidates in the Top 5 of THIS contest, but it will make John Courage the Democracy for America Grassroots All-Star, the Feingold Progressive Patriot, and a Warner Mapchanger.

NOTE:  This is instant runoff voting.  If you don't put these candidates in this order, you can actually push John further down the list instead of into the top five.  We are very confident from the rumors we've heard that  Bell and Radnofsky are secure in the top five and that John is just below the bar.

The ideal ballot would be in this order (it only takes a second to vote) to show the country that Texas is more purple than it is red:

1st Vote: John Courage TX-21
2nd Vote: Ted Ankrum TX-10
3rd Vote: Mary Beth Harrell TX-31
4th Vote: Chris Bell TX-GOV
5th Vote: Barbara Radnofsky TX-SEN

Please take a minute out of your day and vote THIS all-Texan ballot by clicking here.

Democratically yours,
Glen Maxey

P.S.--You can also make a huge difference by telling your friends. You can easily do this by clicking here:

Just out - Convention speaking schedule

by: David Van Os

Fri Jun 02, 2006 at 02:20 PM CDT

(emphasis mine. - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

I just got the news from Ruben Hernandez, the state party executive director, on the speaking schedule of the statewide candidates. Chris Bell will speak Friday night, Barbara Radnofsky will speak between 11:00 AM and 12:00 NOON on Saturday, and the rest of the statewide ticket will speak one after the other beginning at NOON. Maria Luisa Alvarado will start this part of the program at 12:00, I will speak at 12:15, and so on. Originally the plan was for the statewide candidates to speak later in the afternoon on Saturday, but they have been moved up to a better spot in the schedule.

It would have been better for all the statewide candidates to speak on Friday night to showcase the Texas Democratic Party's resolve to carry the state across the board. However, because of invitations and commitments that were already made, I think the train was probably already too far down the track several weeks ago to make that happen at this point. Under the circumstances, a program highlighting the statewide ticket at noon Saturday is a good resolution in my opinion. Most of the Convention delegates are still very much present and interested that early on Saturday.

There is no question but that this change was made because of the large amount of feedback the state party has been getting on this in the last few days. It is very encouraging to know that so many Texas Democrats want to push our statewide ticket and fight to win our state back for the people this year up and down the ballot. I am proud to be on the statewide Democratic ticket with Maria Luisa Alvarado, Hank Gilbert, Fred Head, Valinda Hathcox, Dale Henry, Judge Bill Moody, J.R. Molina, Barbara Radnofsky and Chris Bell. It is a great ticket of Fighting Democrats who stepped up to the plate from out of the grassroots with winning attitudes to take on the beast right in his belly. We're all fighters. We'll fight till hell freezes over, then fight on the ice.

David Van Os

I've added the convention schedule according to the Party as of May 31 as well. This may be somewhat updated with the information David mentioned above. -KT

by: faithm

Fri May 26, 2006 at 04:12 PM CDT

The Tyler Morning Telegraph coverage of Barbara Ann Radnosky's statements while in Smith County is the most through statement I've seen to date by Ms. Radnosky on the issues.

BOR Endorsement: United States Senate

by: Vince Leibowitz

Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 10:41 AM CDT

I am honored to pen, on behalf of my colleagues here at Burnt Orange Report, the endorsement on our unanimous choice for the Democratic Nomination for United States Senate, Barbara Ann Radnofsky.--VL

We have a reason to believe again. To believe in Texas, to believe in our Party, to believe in a candidate.

And, Barbara Radnofsky is our reason to believe. [Website, Bio, Contribute]

A slogan printed on her bumper stickers, "Tough Name—Smart Dame," sums up reasons Texas Democrats should support the Houston attorney over perennial candidate Gene Kelly in the April 11 run-off to determine who will will face Kay Bailey Hutchison in November: She's tough, smart, and will do what it takes to win.

Barbara Radnofsky is a strong candidate with a vision for a better Texas and a better America. She supports and stands behind many issues of importance to every Texan, Democrats especially.

Radnofsky-Kelly Poll Numbers

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Sat Apr 01, 2006 at 02:24 PM CST

Note: This post was part of BOR's April Fool's Day series of joke posts. Its contents are not true.

Yesterday afternoon BOR was leaked early poll numbers being conducted by WOAI San Antonio set to complete their last day of field calls today for the Senate Run-Off.

So far there are 268 respondents with a margin of error around 4.5%. But being a run-off, take it with a grain of salt as devining voters is difficult.

51%- Gene Kelly
43%- Barbara Radnofsky
8%- Don't Know/Don't Care

Let's hope those mailers do the job as early voting starts next Monday.
