Tx-19 Update

by: Xpatriated Texan

Wed Aug 29, 2007 at 03:03 PM CDT

Blue 19th isn't all about Lubbock - we recently found Abilene setting itself up to waste $30,000 on a slogan.  How about "Abilene: We Dumb Enough to Pay for This"?

But since we brought up Lubbock - Randy Neugebauer's constituents want to know why he's so transparently sold-out and doesn't give a damn about them.  Answer: Because he knows the sheeple won't revolt.

While Randy is busy dissing the SCHIP program everyone in Lubbock seems to understand it's a good thing.

Meanwhile, no one in Plainview knows about date rape.  I can't imagine why else they would be printing a fictional account of it in the NEWSpaper - I guess everyone in Plainview has insurance...

In Sweetwater, the big news is that the grand jury indicted nine people - none of which was named Randy Neugebauer, Rick Perry, or George Asshat Bush.  The people of Sweetwater may lay bleeding at home unable to get to the hospital, but, by God, they'll know that you can't evade arrest with a vehicle in Sweetwater!

This is why I say the people of Tx-19 aren't really to blame for the nut-swinger they send to DC.  If your newspaper won't tell you that you are being shafted from a thousand miles away, how can you demand accountability?

World Can't Wait "Day of Mass Resistance" Protests Thursday

by: John McClelland

Mon Oct 02, 2006 at 01:20 PM CDT

I know we don't normally discuss George W Bush and his nonsense on BOR. But on this coming Thursday 10/5, there will be protests held by the organization World Can't Wait, in which their goal is to drive out the Bush Administration. And considering recent events, I think we're due for a good protest!

There are 152 scheduled protests nationwide, of which Texas is holding quite a few: Abilene, Austin, Dallas, Denton, Houston, Kingwood, Lewisville, San Antonio, and San Marcos.

You can find out the location of each one by clicking here.

Democrat Gets Support from Pro-Life PAC....

Democrat Gets Endorsement of Pro-Life PAC....Thank God The Republican Will Win.

From QR:

In the March primaries, the race in House District 71 to replace retiring state Rep. Bob Hunter (R-Abilene) became one of the marquee contests for the moderate faction of the Republican Party. Susan King, a nurse and Abilene school board president, eventually scored a tightly fought runoff victory over social conservative Kevin Christian.

This week, the Texas Right to Life PAC endorsed King’s opponent, Democratic nominee Mel Hailey. The Democrat in the race is a member of the socially conservative Church of Christ and teaches at the church-affiliated Abilene Christian University. King is a Presbyterian....

Black said that his group does endorse Democrats, albeit much less often than it endorses Republicans. He said that his PAC has endorsed Dora Olivo (D-Rosenberg), Armando "Mando" Martinez (D-Weslaco) and Juan Escobar (D-Kingsville). In addition, Texas Right to Life has certified Aaron Peña (D-Edinburg), Inocente "Chente" Quintanilla (D-Tornillo), SD 7 candidate Michael Kubosh and HD 38 candidate Eddie Lucio III.

Its sad to say that I am ecstatic that Mel Hailey has no chance of winning in the Abilene district.  I don't think Democrats need fundamentalists who will throw the rights of women out the door either out of true belief or to get the votes of those who believe oppression is God's way.

As for the other Democrats supported by Texas Right to Life, to put it mildly, they haven't done shit in office and it won't hurt anyone if they get kicked out in the next primary.

TX-19: Ricketts vs. Naugahyde

by: mikecable

Thu Jun 15, 2006 at 04:52 PM CDT

( - promoted by Karl-Thomas Musselman)

Robert Ricketts will be holding a rally in Abilene on Tuesday, June 20th.  LubbockDem promises something great is going to happen at the rally.  Everyone who is in the area needs to come out and hear Robert, our next congressman from the 19th district.

When: Tuesday, June 20th 5:30 to 7:00 pm
Where: T&P Depot 1101 North First - Abilene

Robert Ricketts, who is running for congressman in the 19th District of Texas, is the real thing.  When elected he will serve as a citizen legislator, with only the interests of his district and its citizens in mind.  Ricketts is on the right side of the issues--our side, and not on the side of Karl Rove and corrupt corporate lobbyists.
