State Senators endorse Art Hall for RR Commissioner

by: M. Eddie Rodriguez

Mon Feb 25, 2008 at 02:57 PM CST

(Art Hall is a BOR endorsed candidate.   - promoted by Burnt Orange Report)

BOR endorsed Railroad Commissioner candidate Art Hall has now recieved the endorsements of four Texas State Senators. They are Sen. Rodney Ellis, Sen. Royce West, Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, and Sen. Carlos Uresti.

Much has been said over the value of endorsements but I do know that these four Senators represent a large portion of our state. If they get out and help stump for Art Hall, it could make a big difference. At the very least, I hope more people will pay attention to who sits in this very important position.

I met Art Hall when he headed up the Academic Excellence office at St. Mary's School of Law. I believe him to be a thoughtful and intelligent person that will be getting my vote.

Endorsement by the Senators after the jump

Craddick's First Disguised PAC of 2008

by: capitoleye

Tue Feb 05, 2008 at 01:48 PM CST

Well it didnt take long for Craddick and his Republican buds to start hiding their money to Craddick D's Kino Flores, Aaaron Pena, and Kevin Bailey. On January 10, Craddick sent $250,000 to the Texas Job and Opportunity Build PAC ("Craddick's Hand Job"). On 1/11/08, with no other funds, the PAC sent $50,000 to each of the 3 Craddick D's.

Bailey even listed the contribution from Craddick's Hand Job as of January 9, 2008, before the PAC had any funds.
Bailey raised 90% of his money on the 30 day report from Craddick's Hand Job, Texans for Lawsuit Reform ($25,000), and Dwayne Henson (a developer bud of Bailey's).

Craddick Ds and Speaker's Lobby Money

by: capitoleye

Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 04:31 PM CST

Hillco PAC, Speaker's Craddick's trojan horse, is up to its same old trick: cleaning up Bob Perry's Republican money and giving it to Craddick Ds. In 2007, Kevin Bailey got $21,000 from Hillco, Kino Fliores $11,000 and Dwanna Dukes $10,000. Bailey would have essentially a zero cash balance without Hillco, the Speaker's closest lobbyists.

Bob Perry, the largest donor in Texas and the nation, gave $125,000 to Hillco PAC so far in 2007 and over $1.2 million since 2000. Shameless.

TX-Sen: Rick Noriega Added to Expand the Map!

by: Senate 2008 Guru

Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 01:32 PM CDT

Readers of Senate 2008 Guru: Following the Races may notice in the upper left hand corner of the website that we have a new addition to the Expand the Map! ActBlue page: State Representative and Lieutenant Colonel Rick Noriega. Representative/Lt. Col. Noriega has ignited the grassroots and netroots and achieved broad support among the establishment. Noriega is a terrific candidate and understands the meaning of words like "duty" and "service." Further, incumbent Republican and Bush rubber stamp John Cornyn is extremely vulnerable. To recognize State Representative and Lieutenant Colonel Rick Noriega's addition to the Expand the Map! ActBlue page, I would love to see readers of the Guru's blog put up a half dozen contributions to Noriega today. Just six contributions - you can do it! Whether you can contribute $100 or $10, please contribute if you can! Many thanks!

TX-Sen: Updates on Emil Reichstadt and John Montford?

by: Senate 2008 Guru

Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 10:31 AM CDT

With the news that Mikal Watts will be ending his bid, does that make Lieutenant Colonel and State Representative Rick Noriega the sole Democratic candidate?

Last I heard, Emil Reichstadt was expected to drop out "soon" but I hadn't heard any formal word that he was definitely out.  Also, former state senator and Texas Tech Chancellor John Montford was considering a bid - any further news there?

Thanks for any insights!
