John Cornyn's Job as NRSC Chair Just Got Harder

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

While what's left of the dwindling minority of Republicans in the U.S. Senate elected John Cornyn to head the NRSC for the next two years, Cornyn's job just got a little harder tonight. The AP has called the race in Alaska for Democrat Mark Begich over Republican incumbent Ted Stevens.

Answer all of your email as fast as you can. Stevens has reportedly claimed he will take his "series of tubes" with him as he leaves the Senate.

Big Texas John will do a great job (0.00 / 0)
in leading a Party of corruption, incompetence and irrelevance. Texas should be real proud.

You mean Big BAD John.. (0.00 / 0)
That may come back to haunt him. And let's hope he takes Big Bad Kay down with him.

Congratulations, Mark Begich! (0.00 / 0)
As of 4:30PM, Alaska time, Begich is up by 3700 with about 2500 votes left to count. It's over!

Of the three outstanding Senate races, this is the one I most wanted the Dems to win.  Ted Felon Stevens has no business being in the Senate, and I don't want Sarah Palin taking his place, either.

Of the other two, Georgia is a choice between an awful R and a good D, while Minnesota is a choice between a not-so-bad R and a not-very-qualified D. I'm rooting for the Ds in both races, of course, but Martin + Coleman would be a lot better for the country than Chambliss + Franken.
