Barbara Ann Radnofsky Left Off the Ballot in Maverick County

by: Damon McCullar

Tue Apr 11, 2006 at 02:10 PM CDT

The ballots used for early voting in Maverick County (Eagle Pass) did not have Barbara Ann Radnofsky listed as a candidate.  Campaign Manager, Seth Davidson, estimates that 1,300 people in Maverick County voted during early voting.  He wanted to stress that in a low turnout primary run off, every vote counts and that everyone should get out and vote for Barbara Radnofsky.  Despite this set back, Seth predicts a win for Barbara.  The Secretary of State's office has initiated emergency ballot procedures due to this mistake.

More details as they come available.

Maverick went 70% for Kelly in the 2000 runoff (0.00 / 0)
Looks like he may top that this time

Maverick (0.00 / 0)
By my reckoning, Maverick is the eighth most important county in winning the runoff. The E-Day controversy may prove to be a blessing in disguise if she has some people on the ground -- preferably herself -- raising Hell and telling folks to go back and re-vote in that contest.

She's not left "OF", she's left OFF.  I was confused a bit.

This just now is being reported? (0.00 / 0)
Early voting started a week ago and no one noticed til now?

On the possible upside, if Kelly got 70% last time, it might be just as well if the senate race didn't show up on the ballot.  It's not like they could have any indication of a senate run-off and leave Radnofsky off without also leaving Kelly off.

If the vote is like last time with Kelly getting 70%, just dropping it seems like a net plus.

According to the SOS, they are legally required to report the valid votes in Maverick County, which includes all the tallies for Kelly. See here for more.

Now I see the full screw up (0.00 / 0)
I was under the impression when they left Radnofsky off the ballot, that they just didn't have a place on the ballot for a senate run-off at all, since Kelly could not have been shown running unopposed in a runoff.

I was saying if he got 70% last time, the fact that NEITHER of them were on the ballot could be in Radnofsky's favor.  But to have Kelly still on, is another story.

BTW, if he got 70% last time, I can't believe she didn't work that county hard enough to not have someone...anyone looking for her name in early voting.  Doesn't bode well.

Maverick had 1% of the vote in 2000 (0.00 / 0)
Kelly had higher percentages in 35 other counties. Forgive us if we missed checking for something very rare in a low population county.

Maverick (0.00 / 0)
Maverick generated about 5,000 votes in the 2006 Democratic primary (don't know why George cares about the year 2000).

Harris County had about 30,000 and Dallas County had about 26,000.

This is a VERY important county in a Democratic primary.

Today is a runoff (0.00 / 0)
not a primary

Things that make you go hmmm?! (0.00 / 0)
I would expect this in a primary election but not in a run-off. You would think the election officials would have paid closer attention. In either case, it is not acceptable. UGH!

its time (0.00 / 0)
If she somehow loses because of that county, I would challenge the election and sue them. In fact, just to make a point, Id sue them anyway for stupidity. Barb is a lawyer. She can put those skills to use.
