Tim Kaine (0.00 / 0)

I just looked over the speaker schedule for Wednesday night and absent from the list of speakers (most of whom are rumored candidates) is Tim Kaine.  So I'm putting my odds on Gov. Kaine from VA.  Chet Edwards is missing from all the major lists.  He get rumored but only because people keep putting his name up, pretty much a diversionary tactic in my mind.

I think the list may be changing daily.  I was about to agree but did some more research.

In this post dated yesterday by the Rocky Mountain News Kaine is not listed at all. It's a pretty complete list and apparently was provided by the DNCC and Obama campaign.

I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something and found the official list from the DNC's website. Kaine is definitely not on any list that was released yesterday.

Based on the tea leaves, it is looking likely that the announcement will not be until late Friday if not Saturday (with a big rally scheduled for Saturday in Springfield).

As to whom it will be, every time you look at a media report someone has a "sure" lead on the pick but each media report names someone different.

The difference between the two campaigns is that everyone of Obama's short list is a good pick and most of McCain's short list is suicide with the conservatives threatening a blood bath at the convention over several possible picks.

won't be Friday, it's a bad day as far as the news cycle. Stuff tends to get lost over the weekend. If you're announcing something you want people to forget announce it Friday. This is why whenever Bush is doing something to trash the environment or the Constitution it invariably gets put out there on a Friday. My guess is Obama will make his pick on Thursday. I'm still saying that it's gonna be Bayh, but Biden seems to be gaining, though I still think him unlikely. Oh, and I do agree with you tmess, Obama's short list will tend to help, McSame's will not. Bring on the Romneys, the Jindals and the Ridges, the bornagains will stay home.

The problem is presidential candidates who lost the election really don't look viable the second time around.  And certainly not as a vice-presidential candidate which is really sort of an insult to them.  The losers sort of get stuck with whatever their position was prior to the election.  And some do quite well with it. Gore has had quite an impact on us as a society.  Some would say more than he would have as president.  He has been free to really say what he wants to say and do what he wants to do and not be restricted by being "politically correct."

No one will know he has picked until Barack Obama announces it to his supporters.  But few expect it to be Gore or Kerry. Despite strong lobbying for both by quite a few.

Rumor was Caroline Kennedy was among those lobbying for John Kerry and rumor is John Kerry was among those lobbying for Caroline Kennedy.  In a perfect world, she probably would be the perfect vice-presidential candidate.

But this is not a perfect world.  In the imperfect world we live in, Hillary Clinton is really the only running mate that would ensure Barack Obama winning the White House. But one reason why many oppose her is the expectation of what will happen if Barack Obama doesn't choose her - a floor fight for the nomination.  Which will divide the party and literally hand the White House to John McCain.
