Rep. Mike Krusee Arrested on DUI Charges

by: David Mauro

Thu May 01, 2008 at 10:12 AM CDT

The retiring Republican state representative from Williamson County was arrested and charged late Wednesday night, the Statesman reports.

Krusee was booked into the Williamson County Jail at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday and was released at 8:55 a.m. today, officials said. His bail was set at $1,000.

DPS spokeswoman Tela Mange said a trooper spotted a vehicle in the 1300 block of Briar Hollow Drive near U.S. 183 and RM 620 with an expired registration and being driven erratically. Mange said the trooper noticed a strong smell of alcohol and administered a field sobriety test, which she said Krusee failed.

Expired registration as well as DWI?  Boy Krusee has sure let himself go hasn't he?

From the same blog post from The Blotter linked above:

Krusee carried and passed legislation in 2003 that created something called the "driver responsibility program" to help fund the Texas Mobility Fund. That program included a number of surcharges for driving offenses, including $1,000 for a first conviction of driving while intoxicated.

he was so depressed that Perry named someone else to chair the TTC that he went on a drinking binge?  Scary stuff.

Hmmm . . . (0.00 / 0)
I've never heard of anyone getting out of jail that quickly after a DWI arrest.

Even in less-strict Travis County, you're stuck in jail for 16 hours, at least.

Interesting.

It's ironic that Krusee's 2003 "driver responsibility program" bill became law and now he has to pay those surcharges for driving drunk, about $3,000 (The Statesman got it wrong).

Krusee glaring at me, trying to stare me down, as I passionately tried to represent 300 Texans against Delay's redistricting before the Legislative committee.

Glad DPS got to him before he could kill someone.
