KOOP 91.7 FM, Austin's community radio station, will be back on the air starting Friday, January 25, 2008 The station went off the air on January 6 after an early morning fire severely damaged its Airport Boulevard studios and officss. Since then, KVRX, the student-run radio station that shares the frequency with KOOP, has been broadcasting around the clock. Last week, Entercom (Majic 95.5, Mix 94.7, Talk Radio 1370) contacted KOOP and offered studio and office space free of charge. Entercom just sold 104.3 The Beat, which left them with a fully equipped studio and infrastructure just sitting idle. The KOOP family is very grateful to Entercom for its generosity, and looking forward to being back on the air! |
