Armando Walle In Austin Today

by: Matt Glazer

Tue Dec 11, 2007 at 09:16 PM CST

Armando Walle is one of the many great Democrats running for office this March.  He is taking on Craddick D Kevin Bailey in House District 140 and typifies a community supported candidate.

Walle states on his website:

My decision to run was made after witnessing the immense need for effective representation in Texas House District 140.  There are issues of great importance to parents, students, businesses and neighborhoods that continue to be neglected.  District 140 deserves a State Representative that will fervently fight for better schools, access to affordable healthcare, flood prevention and public safety.  I have the leadership skills, experience and education to hit the ground running and fight for our community.

Bailey's vote to elect Tom Craddick to become Speaker of the Texas House runs contrary to the needs of House District 140.

Tomorrow Walle will be in Austin to show the people of Texas that change is needed in Houston.

Good event; good candidate. (0.00 / 0)
Though it would have been nice to see some more warm blogger bodies there, Armando's support in Austin was evident.  This candidate has the political experience and financial support to make this a serious race.

A cocktail party with TTLA sugar daddies is one thing, but Armando will need help reaching his voters if change is going to be affected in the Texas House.  I hope that is what we all want...

Biting the hand that feeds you... (0.00 / 0)
...will get you no where fast. Just ask Kevin Bailey. I'm glad you made the event in Austin and ate the free food provided by those "sugar daddies" you spoke of earlier. Consider yourself permanently invited to block walk the District every weekend until the March 4th primary.

Best of luck, but... (0.00 / 0)
The donation will have to be my mitzvah for now; those weekends belong to work and Jesus. Don't think my characterization of the event means to do anything but gently admonish our BOR community that getting a better situation in the Texas House might sometimes take turning out in the rain.

At the end of the session, there were plenty of people talking about what may/may not/ought to happen to the Craddick D's who sold out the interests of their constituents.  I know the Presidential race is dominating everyone's attention, but the next few weeks will answer important questions for Texas, too.

Defeat Kevin Bailey (0.00 / 0)
I couldn't make it to the Austin fundraiser, but I sure hope that Armando defeats the obnoxious 17-year incumbent Kevin Bailey.
