From Quorum:"I am announcing that I will not seek reelection to the Texas House of Representatives for District 17. It has been a true honor, privilege and pleasure to have served in the Texas House for the last 6 terms. I feel like my office has accomplished many of the goals that we had set when I first ran for election. It's time now for me to spend more time on the farm and with family.
"I wish my colleagues success in the upcoming legislative session and future sessions as they continue to grapple with the issues of our rapidly growing State. My constituency can rest assured that my staff and I will continue to serve them and whatever needs they may have through the end of my current term." The article goes on to note that Rep. Cook wanted to get back to his family farm roots, and had never thought to be a career politician. We know of no immediate candidate who will step in and run -- for Democrats or Republicans -- but we imagine more news will come soon. Stay tuned. |
