Happy Blog-O-Sphere Day!

by: Matt Glazer

Thu Jul 19, 2007 at 03:10 PM CDT

Today is the 4th installment of national blog-o-sphere day.  Today we honor an organization that has helped not only employ one of our very own but has raised over $25 million for democratic candidates across the country.  We are supporting ActBlue and honoring their commitment to taking back our country.

Yesterday, blogger Matt Stoller wrote, "ActBlue is a representation of what is great about our country, that the principles of diversity, openness, transparency, and collective action can and do work." I couldn't agree more. ActBlue has set the ground for Democratic growth nationwide, by removing traditional barriers that have limited political participation.

ActBlue has changed the direction of the country by empowering you to raise tens, hundreds, or thousands of dollars for candidates that matter to you.

Our friends at TexasKaos said it best...

Without the support of the folks at Act Blue, I promise you that 2006 would not have been as happy an outcome.

Now on the 4th annual Blogosphere Day, we're supporting Act Blue.  By  building Democratic infrastructure today, we're building support for  progressive victory in 2008, and strengthening our movement for the  long haul.  Please support Act Blue today.

Democrats are ahead online because of Act Blue and the blogs, but the other side  is watching and learning.  Your support is crucial for us to maintain  and build our advantage.  Please support Act Blue today.

We won hard races because of ActBlue.  In 2006, victories in Montana and Virgina would have never been possible without peer-to-peer, online fundraising through ActBlue.  As we take back Texas we will continue to use ActBlue, because it is a building block to rebuilding the Democratic Party in Texas and beyond.

Democratic leaders like John Kerry, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Wes Clark, and other have joined forces with national and state blogs in showing their support for ActBlue.

Why do we join the progressive community in their support for ActBlue?  Simple.

This is not a time for us to waver, to wait for an election year, or to assume that someone else will act so we don’t have to. Democrats are ahead online because of ActBlue and the blogs, but the other side is watching and learning. Your support is crucial for us to maintain and build our advantage. Please support ActBlue today.

Join us in thanking ActBlue for changing our country for the better.

Thanks to much Matt (0.00 / 0)
Given that I now work for ActBlue I cannot be more thankful for your post and the amount of activity today discussing ActBlue and what we are all about. I've posted a round up of everything here on the ActBlue Blog.

We're in the process of hiring an additional staff member and we're going to need more by the end of 2008, so it's a manner of getting together the resources now to be prepared. The Republicans are starting to mimic this success with SlateCard.com and http://www.bigredtent.org so we're always working to stay a step ahead.

That and I've had the great pleasure of getting a number of Texas candidates up and ready with ActBlue (if anyone needs help in that regard, just email me).
