Texas Round-Up

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Thu Oct 26, 2006 at 10:15 AM CDT

  • Quote of the Day goes to Hank Gilbert in this Waco Tribune story.

"I’m not running for cookie commissioner. I’m running for ag commissioner," said the rancher from Whitehouse.

  • Sen. Royce West held true on his promise to air ads on Chris Bell's behalf that take aim at a certain other Gubernatorial candidate. Capitol Annex has the ad on YouTube.  Material from BOR plays the opening role. You can see the video at the bottom of the post.

  • A former die-hard Kinky supporter has an e-mail exchange with the campaign after voting for Bell. You should read this- both enlightening and hilarious.

  • Scott Henson is 100% right in that it is a crying shame that we have no credible candidate running for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals statewide and that some of the worst judges in America will be returned to the bench by default. A reformed TDP will recruit candidates for each and every one of these seats up in 2008.

  • Judge Charlie Baird who is set to be the next judge from the 299th court is among my top 5 favorite Travis County Democrats. He's running the same ad from the primary (on his website) again in the general against an actual Republican opponent which many local Dems didn't know was running (so get out there and vote for Baird).

  • Dr. Dave Rausch of West Texas A&M University is conducting on online exit poll for the Governor's election. You can answer it if you voted anywhere in Texas but if you voted in Amarillo there are extra options for you. Check it out.

  • Some of you may remember Jeff Ortiz who ran for city council in Nederland and was the youngest to do so. He may have lost last year, but he's kept up in the community and has already released his statement that he's coming back for another run in 2007.

  • Looks like San Antonio approves of Mayor Hardberger 63%-29%.

Kirchoff on Kinky (0.00 / 0)
Kirchoff has it right. The Kinkster is fading fast and the liberals need to come home to Bell if we are to beat Perry.

Here is another Kinky defector for Bell: (0.00 / 0)
Slev.

Who is running for Cookie Commissioner? (0.00 / 0)
Wait.. that ISN'T on the ballot?

The truth from the Houston Chronicle (0.00 / 0)
http://chron.com/dis...

Read it quick before Karl the censor gets to it!

Still whining on behalf of the Kinkster I see. (0.00 / 0)
I found this sentence significant:
"His whole gig on stage was to irritate people and run people out of the audience on purpose," McCall said. "He wanted to see how long it would take to run the whole crowd out."

Explains a lot about how the Kinky campaign.

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.

So? (0.00 / 0)
The ad was factual, too. They were Friedman's own words.

I know you'll ignore this, also, but Friedman himself said that the show was highly offensive and had a bunch of walkouts. He said that, of course, before the political spin got to him and told him to attack us as "paid political assassins" and cockroaches. Funny how the "truth" of political spin stands up sometimes...

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

Kinky's theory of politics (0.00 / 0)
"I didn't expect the media to be so low," he said, brown eyes narrowing. "I thought they would go after the guy who's really stuffing money in his pants. That's (Gov. Rick) Perry.

"Or they would go after the hypocrisy of (Democratic candidate Chris) Bell. But no, they're going after how much do we make from the talking action figure."

Kinky can throw all the mud he wants, but anyone who picks on him is a meanie.

He's just so SENSITIVE (0.00 / 0)
George.  You don't understand.

Soul of a political poet.

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.

Yes they were Kinky's words (0.00 / 0)
Taken compleatly out of context.

No they weren't... (0.00 / 0)
We had this discussion already...in context of the full show, they weren't. There were people shouting for Friedman to "tell it like it is" after his show.

You've made your point -- you think they're satire. We didn't. Guess what -- it's a matter of opinion!

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

Oh and. (0.00 / 0)
I don't know if the Kinky campaign called you guys "paid political assassins", but I do recall that I called you "political assassins".

(I don't really think you are good enough at it yet to actually get paid for it.)

Laura Stromberg did (0.00 / 0)
I got a good laugh out of that little gem.

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.

How are you spending that big $2000 check from Jason Stanford Phil? He finally got around to sending me mine for that political hit piece.

*eye roll*
