Shane Sklar Releases Two New TV Ads Today

by: Shane Sklar for TX14

Tue Oct 17, 2006 at 01:06 PM CDT

(Now that Edwards race is locked up, and Lampson's a runaway, we should focus on Shane Sklar, who's running a perfect campaign against Ron Paul. I'll write a new post this afternoon, but in the meantime, watch these ads and donate to Sklar if you can. - promoted by Phillip Martin)

See 'em here and be sure to check out what the opposition has in store.

If you like these, you can pitch in and help make sure more voters in District 14 see them.

There were four candidate forums in the district last night. Shane gave a stellar performance at the televized forum in Victoria, and then hurried  up to Edna, where his wife was speaking. Former State Reps. Patty Gray and Tom Uher spoke at the other events. Ron Paul didn't make any of them, and his staff told the crowd in Edna that he was busy at a fundraiser.

I add this because I want you to know that Shane is out everyday working the grassroots in our district. These ads are going to amplify the message that he is delivering in all 10 of our counties. It's a big district, but with your help we're going to have it all covered!

I was wondering where that narrator from 80s ads went (0.00 / 0)
kidding.. kidding..

But yeah, those ads are pretty good and they hit the messege and stay on it.

On checking some maps (0.00 / 0)
The Texas Nielsen map (which is here) really says one big thing.

There is going to be an emphasis on Houston TV, and those ad rates will probably hurt like hell.

The Victoria market seems very small. I'd think that a few other areas could be covered there.

Please no! (0.00 / 0)
Watch what the other side does:
Republicans use cable very heavily.

Please do not let Democrats use
expensive broadcast stations --
insist that your candidates book
their ads on cable TV.

Cable covers 2/3rd of all households,
more in built-up areas, less in
rural areas where satellite is
simpler.

But in Galveston, Texas City, and
Brazosport cable will reach almost
all your voters.

You buy cable ads without buying
coverage of Houston, Conroe,
Sugarland, and other areas
outside the district.

In little ole Victoria, the TV
station is probably a good deal,
but Houston -- Please, no!

Forget Houston TV at $250-300K a week, but, (3.00 / 1)
I'm told Paul has very little Houston TV up, so far at least. But think cable TV, targeted mail, rural radio, field and visiblity, a harder working candidate, and a national mood that could zero in on specifics from Paul's record. Maybe it's a bit of a long shot, but this is our best long shot by far. It's time to pull Dr. Paul's license to operate.

What are the polls saying? (0.00 / 0)
My parents live in TX-14, and while my mother is planning to vote for Shane, my dad is backing the ex-Libertarian.  It would be good for him to see these ads, and maybe I can ply him with poll numbers...

What precinct? (0.00 / 0)
I might be blockwalking their house if they live in Victoria.

Sorry (0.00 / 0)
premature postulation there.

I thought maybe we could bring a cake, a videotaped message from you, anything that could help.

Did he see that Paul did not go to any candidates forum in his district?  Did he see the nubile young woman he sent in his stead in Victoria?  The guy won't even answer the LoWV questionnaire, for goodness's sake.

And he really is still a Libertarian, labels be damned.

Sorry, they're in Dickinson (0.00 / 0)
And if you showed Dad any nubile woman that Paul sent, he'd not be likely to change his mind!
We're still working on it, but we have to be subtle.  However, his hearing aids come in today, so we can believe he's paying closer attention now!

TX-14: Shane Sklar Can Beat Ron Paul

I wrote it a few months ago. It gives all kinds of reasons (data, poll, etc.) why Sklar can win. Here's a highlight:

Only 33% of voters want to re-elect Ron Paul, whereas 48% want to elect someone new. 20% were undecided -- and Sklar is going after that 20%. The campaign has identified 60,000 persuadable households, and are preparing a very thorough and focused field and direct mail program for those households. According to the campaign, Shane Sklar can win if these voters change from 55% for Paul to 56% for Sklar.

Shane Sklar leads Ron Paul 54-30% in an informed Congressional vote. Within that informed vote are 84% of Democrats, 50% of Republicans, and 58% of independents. Ed. note: Don't forget to donate here to Shane Sklar's campaign. When read a brief paragraph of Shane Sklar, voters generally support Sklar at a rate of 64%. TX-14 wants someone new, and Shane Sklar fits the profile perfectly.

Now, a very great man once said that some people rob you with a fountain pen.

There are zero reasons to vote for Paul (0.00 / 0)
He's against everything and brings no benefits to the district.  Bozo the clown would be better, but we have a real quality candidate in Shane Sklar.  Shane needs more of these ads up and running.  Paul spent over a million bucks in the last reporting period, and the best he can do is piggyback on some poor veteran whose benefits got screwed up by the Booosh administration's incompetence.

We can and will do better with Shane.

Now, if only Lampson would spread a little of the wealth down south, we'd be a lot more comfortable.
