| Kinky Friedman continues his quest to turn the US/Mexico border into the Maginot Line.
The number of National Guard troops on the Texas-Mexico border would jump from 1,500 to 10,000 under a plan to combat illegal immigration proposed today by independent gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman.
"We've waited 153 years for the feds to help us," Friedman said. "They haven't yet. We have our own army. I want 10,000 Texas National Guard troops on the border and I want them now."
Friedman must have come up with this plan recently, because three days ago he told the El Paso Times, "I don't have a plan [for securing the border]."
The good news? Our overstretched National Guardsman who we might need in the event of a natural disaster and whose presence could drastically and dramatically damage our relationship with Mexico and the United States' bruised international image will be driving biodiesel Hummers.
This is a horrible idea and just illustrates how far right Kinky really is. |
