John Courage Ad: 18,000 More Promises

by: Karl-Thomas Musselman

Mon Aug 21, 2006 at 04:05 PM CDT

"...amidst the yellow ribbons and political speeches, we are only as good as the promises we keep." -John Courage, Veteran

At Veterans for Courage, the first and very powerful ad for John Courage has been released. While 1:15 length version is not cut yet for your 30/60 second TV spots, the message is more than powerful. I will be honest in saying that I'm a sucker for emotional political advertisements, but this one is made all the more effective by the harsh reality of it's message and the differences it highlights between John Courage and Lamar Smith.

Click here to watch online if not displaying above. We are adding this and any other campaign videos to our Burnt Orange Report YouTube Group.

Donate to John Courage. This man deserves to be in Congress.

Courage???????????????????????? (1.00 / 5)
You have got to be kidding.  We need a real candidate in TX-21.
Weak resume, weak campaign.
Are we marking time til 2008, or not?????

um, whatever (0.00 / 0)
Courage hardly has a weak resume being a Veteran, Teacher, Community Leader and beyond has had done more activity in the party and this part of Texas than most others for the past year.  And considering his campaign has rasied near $200,000 to date, I'd hardly call it a weak campaign.  Then again, some commentors have more to gain than others...

Compare only to sitting MC's -- be honest and see what I mean.

Your actions here tonight, which I've already put about 15 0s on your outright trollish comments, are in shockingly bad taste for someone who was considering being a candidate for Congress. Your own actions speak volumes and if you continue post in the style that you have, I will ban you. It is wholly unproductive.

I think its ironic that you would come on here and trash a netroots candidate while the national netroots are raising money and we are raising money for the TexRoots candidate.

I would suggest trashing teachers, veterans, attorneys, police officers... Well I think you get the point.

Great Internet ad (0.00 / 0)
This is the kind of ad a campaign can produce specifically for the Internet.  A good strong message on an issue that's has more depth than a TV spot.

I'm sure those 18,000 new injured soldiers are just the beginning too, because the war isn't over.  Real support for the troops means keeping the promise to provide for their health care.

John is a strong Candidate (0.00 / 0)
I am sorry I cannot now vote for him - but I moved into CD 10 and will have the pleasure of voting for Ted.  The ad is strong, and John is worthy of our support.

I continue to be impressed with John's honesty and his sincere commitment to serve the people of his district, as he has served the public in military service and as a teacher.

And John, my older son says he still plans to vote for "Mr. Courage" and will contact your campaign to help as soon as he gets settled in this semester.

Logic and an open mind are more useful than common sense.

Thank you, John Courage. (4.00 / 2)
As the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran who was discharged 6 days early from the VA hospital last year because of the VA cuts that were just implemented, I have seen first hand the sacrifices Veterans have been forced to make because of the sloppiness and carelessness that has gone on in DC.

Doctors had been recommending for over a year that Dad have his legs amputated.  They said that after the surgery he would be in the hospital for atleast 7 days for recovery and then another 6 days for rehabilitation.  When he finally gave in and recognized he must have the surgery, my family was told again: 7 days for recovery and 6 days for rehabilitation.

Things all changed drastically when a social worker informed my mom, after the surgery, that because of the VA cuts, dad would not be permitted to stay for rehab.

This is no way to treat any Veteran, much less one that served on the ground in Vietnam, watched his friends die, and while debated by the government, lost both of his legs due to his service in Vietnam.

I applaud John Courage for standing up for our Veterans, and will proudly vote for him on Election Day.

Thank you Mr. Courage.

Lauren,

Thank you for your comment. I was wondering if you would be interested in writing letters to editors on behalf of the Courage campaign. If so, please contact me at madams@courageforcongress.org.

Thanks!
