With Debate Tonight, Gallego Campaigns Racks Up Endorsements

Pete Gallego has received the endorsements of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare PAC. Why? Because he actually gives a damn about those programs while his opponent, Rep. Quico Canseco, doesn't.

Tonight, Gallego and Canseco will hold the first-ever Spanish language debate between two major Texas candidates. Canseco will have a lot of explaining to do; he's clearly on defense in this race while still refusing to soften his extremist views on issues like abortion and social programs.

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare PAC Endorses Gallego in CD 23

San Antonio- The PAC of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM), one of the most effective and trustworthy sources for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid advocacy, today endorsed Pete Gallego for Congressional District 23. The endorsement comes days before the AARP/Univision debate on Medicare, Social Security, Financial Security and Medicaid.

"We take endorsements very seriously," said Roy Aragon with the NCPSSM-PAC. "Today we endorse Pete Gallego for Congressional District 23. Pete Gallego gets it. Pete Gallego understands these issues. He will strengthen and protect Medicare and Social Security. Congressman Canseco has voted against seniors every time."

The NCPSSM-PAC identified seven votes in Congress important to seniors. The incumbent, Congressman Canseco, voted on the wrong side on each of those votes.

"I'm proud to receive the endorsement of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare," said State Rep.  Pete Gallego. "Social security and Medicare are commitments that have been made, and they are commitments that must be kept. We cannot give our parents and grandparents a coupon and leave them to negotiate with insurance companies on their own."

Pete Gallego's opponent, Congressman Canseco, has twice voted to turn Medicare into a voucher program and has voiced his support for privatizing Social Security.
