That doesn't jibe with what I know about the bill (0.00 / 0)

My understanding is that Leahy's bill would make it substantially harder to read our email that under current law. Maybe not as hard as you'd like, but harder than it is now.

Under current law, there is essentially no protection for emails kept on servers for more than 6 months. Leahy's bill, which passed in committee and is going up to the Senate floor, would require a subpoena.

We both agree that the FBI had much too free a hand to read Petraeus' emails. Leahy is trying, over the objections of some security-minded Republicans, to introduce some due process.
