November 08, 2005BORed - Election Day ContestBy Matt HardigreeToday is a serious day and, hopefully, a day for celebration. In order to make the time pass a little quicker (does election day seem like 300 hours to anyone else?), we're going to be having a little contest. Try to guess how Prop 1 and 2 are going to do. As a tiebreaker, guess how well Mayor White is going to do in Houston (the smart money says better than 92%). The closest one wins a prize. In the case of a tie, we go to the tie breaker. In the case of another tie the first one gets it. As simple as that. Leave your guess in the comment like such: Prop 1: +10 (if you think it is going to get 60% of the vote) Here's my guess: Prop 1: +12 ----------- ---------- ---------- ---------- Comments
I am think I think we would be able to win Prop 2 if more people would make some calls at onlinephonebanking.com or contact their friends/family/coworkers Posted by: Matt G at November 8, 2005 08:29 AMProp 1 +10
...by the way, what do we win? Are employees of BOR eligible? Posted by: Damon C at November 8, 2005 09:47 AMProp 1 - +12 Just for S&G's Prop 1: +13 Prop 1: +16 Prop 1: 54% K-T running naked down the Drag when/if Prop 2 fails: 100% Posted by: Phillip Martin at November 8, 2005 11:02 AMProp 1: -2 K-T running naked anywhere in any case: 5% Posted by: Karl-T at November 8, 2005 11:19 AMProp 1: +5 This plus/minus thing confuses me, so I'm just going to say what vote they'll get. Prop 1: 58% I realized I posted what percentage I thought would vote "no" on Prop 2, as opposed to what percentage I thought it would pass by. So there's no confusion, and so I get that white elephant Matt promised: Prop 2 53% -- yes I still stand by my K-T numbers, though. :) Posted by: Phillip Martin at November 8, 2005 11:53 AMProp 1: 58% Prop 1: 59% ----------------- For those of us in North Texas, anyone care to vote on whether the White Settlement proposal to change their name to West Settlement will pass? W.Settlement: +2 Posted by: David at November 8, 2005 01:13 PMProp. 1 - +4 White - 84% Posted by: RobertE at November 8, 2005 01:14 PMProp one +8 Prop 1: +2 1: +12 Yeah, but White Settlement was named for the guy who founded it. His last name was White. I understand it sounds kinda scary, but is that really something to change a name over? Posted by: Andrew Dobbs at November 8, 2005 02:04 PMProp 1: +9 (59%) Actually, White Settlement gets its name because the location was whites (Anglos) had settled in what was then largely Indian territory. It's origins are descriptive rather than racist, but the name for better or worse, alas, does refer to ethnicity. That said, most people never give it a second thought. Prop. 1 +14% Prop 1: +12 Adrian running down Ochoa Street in El Paso naked if Prop 2 fails: 91% Kaine: +3 Am I supposed to predict the real vote numbers or the ones that the Diebolds of the world will magically produce for us? Where is my receipt? Posted by: Clay G. at November 8, 2005 03:09 PMProp. 1 - 58% White - 83% Posted by: zapata at November 8, 2005 03:26 PMOnly one precinct in the entire state uses Diebold machines. There are electronic voting machines, but not many of them are made by Diebold. And sorry about the WS mistake. Probably not the worst idea for them to change the name, but I always thought it was funny growing up. Maybe all of Collin County could change their name to that... Oh, let me make some other predictions for fun. I tend to be very wrong about all of this. Hernandez: 44% Salinas 27% (goes to a runoff) Bloomberg: 61%
Also ... Prop 1: +6 Prop 2: -6% Posted by: chrisken at November 8, 2005 05:09 PMProp 1 +11% so far, Tom is in the lead, only 12 pts off Posted by: matth at November 9, 2005 12:16 AMI rock! Posted by: Tom Stevens at November 9, 2005 01:54 PMPost a comment
