November 01, 2005Bell Campaign...By Karl-Thomas MusselmanI read the Chris Bell blog for better or worse. Then I read the following on the front page of the campaign site this morning and am
Just for clarification, Early Voting runs until Friday this week. And while the campaign is busy cracking jokes, UT has now cast over 3,000 votes and Travis County is about to exceed the total number of early votes cast two years ago in the multi-million dollar Prop 12 battle. Thanks for the clarification. And we fixed the error. And, it should be noted, we voted. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Posted by: Jason Stanford at November 1, 2005 11:05 AMHow can you expect us to believe he can run the state when he cannot even run his own campaign as evidenced by a campaign manager, or whatever you are, who cannot even verify information before publishing it? Hopefully enough people will "fill Kinky's boot" so he can give Chris Bell the boot along with Rick Perry and send them both flying. The man is an idiot. As are you. Posted by: Baby Snooks at November 1, 2005 11:17 AMAnd once again he is proclaiming himself the defender of the faith, the savior of the Democratic Party, the white knight on the white horse who filed the ethics complaint against Tom DeLay. "...which the bipartisan House Ethics Committee also unanimously admonished him for unethical and possibly illegal behavior after I broke a seven-year-long ethics truce and filed an ethics complaint against him." They also unanimously admonished you as well: http://www.house.gov/ethics/Bell_letter.htm "Indeed, it appears there is no purpose for including excessive or inflammatory language or exaggerated charges in a complaint except in an attempt to attract publicity and, hence, a political advantage. This improper political purpose was highlighted in this instance by the various efforts you undertook to promote your complaint publicly, by including such excessive or inflammatory language or exaggerated charges in press releases and other public statements. The fact that the Committee ultimately determined to issue a letter of admonition to Representative DeLay on bases other than the materials specified below does not mitigate your violation." What is it you don't understand about that Mr. Bell? Posted by: Baby Snooks at November 1, 2005 11:26 AMBS and K-T should run for something. Or maybe get hired onto a campaign and then maybe everyone could benefit from your infinite wisdom of campaign expertise. All you do is bitch & moan and it got old a long, long time ago. Posted by: Marie at November 1, 2005 11:36 AMAll the bitching from readers and they still come and visit! You must be doing something right K-T! I'm just amazed at the speed by which Karl assigns the fault as "incompetence" when, as a blogger himself, Karl should well know that many mistakes made in this trade are due to typing fingers getting ahead of us. But I guess some folk would rather beat up on fellow Democrats than on Republicans. Posted by: Greg Wythe at November 1, 2005 12:11 PMYeah, cause Karl-Thomas and the Burnt Orange Report are never incompetent nor do they ever make major mistakes...wait, they do almost everyday. You have no right to criticize when you don't ever care to check your facts. I'm not really a Chris Bell supporter, but thought someone should say something about this hipocracy. Ode to Byron Lamasters. He is missed. Posted by: David at November 1, 2005 12:13 PMYeah I miss him too, but he's off in the world of paychecks and making a difference. I wish his job allowed him to post more but such is life. I don't pretend that bloggers get everything right all the time, that goes for Kuff, Greg, PD, the whole crew. But the post was a whopping 3 sentences long. It's a reflection of how out of this election cycle someone is if that didn't ring an 'error bell' as it was being cut and pasted. Posted by: Karl-T at November 1, 2005 12:22 PMThe insufferable self promotion and apparent self importance by some the past several months only makes me remember the old saying that you never appreciate what you have until it is gone. Come back Byron LaMasters and restore a bit of sanity and objectivity to BOR. Posted by: Carl Whitmarsh at November 1, 2005 12:22 PM"Karl should well know that many mistakes made in this trade are due to typing fingers getting ahead of us." Oh, please. He didn't know what today's date was? Or didn't know when early voted ended? Either way, again, an idiot. "But I guess some folk would rather beat up on fellow Democrats than on Republicans." Some of us have ethical standards, and had them long before they became a platform for Chris Bell, which we apply to fellow Democrats as well as everyone else. Standards that Chris Bell just doesn't measure up to. You and several others blindly support Chris Bell which is your right. But you expect everyone else to blindly support him as well. And you use use "party loyalty" as a basis to point the finger at those who don't and thereby intimate that they must not be "good" Democrats for not supporting him. When you think about it, that is not too different than the tactics Tom De Lay has used through the years. And THAT is what most of us are tired of. Posted by: Baby Snooks at November 1, 2005 12:24 PM"You and several others blindly support Chris Bell which is your right. But you expect everyone else to blindly support him as well." B.S., that's B.S. - Everyone I know that is working on the campaign is fighting for everyone's support. I, personally, am trying to gain support for Bell the same way I gain support for everything else I believe in: hard work, reasoned arguements, a little charm and my unquestionable good looks. Posted by: matth at November 1, 2005 01:14 PMOh no, not the looks! Now how can we resist that? Posted by: Karl-T at November 1, 2005 01:19 PM"Then I read the following on the front page of the campaign site this morning and am {stunned by the absolute incompetence} a bit saddened." I am {stunned} a bit saddened by your obvious weakness to his unquestionable good looks! Posted by: Baby Snooks at November 1, 2005 02:04 PMEven Chip Staniswalis knows when early voting starts and ends. Posted by: CalendarOwner at November 1, 2005 04:06 PMThanks for the clarification on what race Dan Dodd is running in. The error has been fixed. I look forward to seeing no more saddening, stunning errors of absolute incompetence on this blog. Posted by: Cincinnatus at November 1, 2005 04:08 PMI will start writing for you guys then. Since Im not from Austin I can be objective :) Chris Bell sucks! Hows that for objectivity? J/k Posted by: John at November 1, 2005 05:13 PMThere's that name again. Chip Staniswalis. Maybe he should run for governor. At least we know he can win despite the odds. Or the convictions. Posted by: Baby Snooks at November 1, 2005 07:09 PMPost a comment
