Travis Turnout Day 1
By Karl-Thomas Musselman
The first day of early voting is complete and Travis County has released their data. Needless to say, the UT-Campus vote is beyond all expectations, leading next closest voting location by a 2-1 margin.
Votes / Early Vote Location (Travis)
654 University of Texas
270 Travis County CourtHouse
260 Randall's Research
206 Northcross Mall
205 HEB South Congress
Total Today: 3667 (.7% County Turnout so far)
UT % of total turnout: 17.8% of the County
Total vote cast in 6 Campus Area Precints in 2003 by E-Day: 411
We have exceeded the campus area vote of 2 years ago in 1 day of early voting. They had to drive in 6 more voting machines today because the vote was so heavy on campus. And to think that 2 years ago, they were prepared to eliminate the UGL early voting location.
Here is the video coverage from this morning by KXAN and News 8 Austin.

i really, really hope proposition 2 doesn't pass. maybe it will rain in dallas, lubbock and amarillo on election day and simultaneously be sunny in austin, fort worth and montrose (the predominately gay district in houston).
huh? I doubt that prop 2 will pass in dallas county.
And don't forget how to vote like a Democrat: Vote early, and vote often! Maybe come to the ballot box with glue on your fingers. Pick up 3 ballots, fill 'em out and drop em in! The more you vote in this election, the better chance we have to make "Heather Has Two Mommies" reality and to tell those conservatives that values are for boring people!
Trey,
What the hell are you talking about? Conservatives are usually the ones that tend to vote early. If you look at most elections - the republican turnout is always heavier in the early voting times. This coupled with your KKK comment in a previous post - I ask if you have any clue whatsoever?
This might be good news but a friend of mine who lives in La Marque, Texas (just north of Galveston) said they are getting 0% news coverage of the election going on. Other small towns around that area, Texas City and Baytown. Maybe the lack of media coverage will keep the small town country folks at home. Lets cross our fingers anyway.
That is awesome for UT! Im proud of them. And no we dont want rain in Dallas because we plan on voting it down! Plus we have to go vote on new city charter rules which will fix a few things.
And remember, the Baytown paper endorsed a no vote on prop 2. Not all hope is lost!
Trey:
I work with an outreach team from MHMR. Give me your location and we'll be on our way.
Susan:
No need to head my way. Might be better for the MHMR team to schedule the following for pickup: Howard "Yeeeeaaaarrrrgggghhhhh" Dean, Al "George Bush betrayed America" Gore and Michael "Americans are the dumbest people on the planet" Moore.
Get out the elastic pants, Trey is stretching.
Hey Paul,
Speaking as a "small town country" boy (I'm sure redneck, bumpkin or idiot are words you also use) who's giving Prop. 2 some serious thought I say to you: GO F**K YOURSELF. Arrogant prick.
Of course "small town country folks" are a tiny portion of the electorate - this election, like most, will be decided largely by suburbanites.
It's funny how alot of people (lonestar liberal) seem to think that Fort Worth-Tarrant County is more Democratic than Dallas County. That's not true: in 04' Bush got 62% in Tarrant County, just over 50% in Dallas County. Tarrant is alot more conservative but alot less pretentious.
Uhm... yeah, apparently people are confusing this bizarro Trey with me. We are not the same person. I'm crazy, but in that eclectic, drunk kind of way. Not so much the seig heil kind of crazy.
