Astros Are National League Champs
By Matt Hardigree
Woo Hoo! The Astros win game 6 of the NLCS with a convincing 5-1 final score built on small ball, clutch hits and great pitching. I was at Onion Creek in The Hieghts and, oh yeah, there might have been a Houston Chronicle photog there to snap a picture of me and my friends celebrating:

I'm the one in the blue. Wierdly, we form the red, white and blue of Old Glory.

I went ahead and pulled my post down (as Matt, Jim, and I had all posted on the Astros victory). Got to say, I was there for all three games in Houston (yes, I'm lucky as hell), and after Monday's loss and last night's win, I am confident we're going all the way.
We've had a demoralizing defeat, and come back. The victory last night was awesome, but it was almost business-like. Having been in that stadium on Monday night, if Lidge had gotten Eckstein or Edmonds out, the dugout would have just dogpiled, and probably celebrated on the field for a good 15-20 minutes. Now, since we didn't win it at home, it seems that we got tougher, and played smarter.
Setting up the series, we'll have Pettite and Clemens pitching in American League parks they've pitched in all their life. Clemens and Lidge both will want to prove how valuable they are, and Oswalt is showing why he was our opening day starter, and why he won the last game of the season that sent us to the playoffs in the first place.
Go 'STROS!
Is this the same blog that predicted nothing out of the Astros and everything out of the AL (you were WAY wrong on that one btw). Houston is always nice to people who jump on the bandwagon. Quit writing the Stros off!
Are you loco? Most of us have been pulling for the good guys since last year's NLCS Game 7 loss. There may have been parts of the season when we were sobbing into our beers while doing it, but we've been routing on the good guys through and through (went to 13 games this year).
Andrew Dobbs was the one who posted on the AL taking everything. I, however, quickly corrected him, telling him that the Astros were going to take it all the way. Dobbs quickly capitulated, however...and I welcome him and all future bandwagon members. This team has enough baggage for everyone!
Go' Stros!
I did capitulate, but I would like to point out that I called Chicago in the AL (I belive). I was wrong in general, and don't blame anyone else.
It was a great game, Roy Oswalt looked unstoppable and it doesn't hurt when the umps are on your side ;). Either way, Go 'Stros!
I think that this is going to be an awesome World Series. The best pitching in the AL versus the best pitching in the NL, both with a bunch of young guys who are ready to prove themselves. At this point, I'd say it is a tossup. I hope Houston does it.
Once again, Go 'Stros!
