Update at YDA by the Bay

The YDA convention has started with a battle in the credentials committee over allotting full votes to various states. The battle is due to the tense campaigning by the Unity and Galloway tickets. Check out both groups to get updates. Personally, I am excited to see the contested election in YDA, especially since a fellow Texan is running Giovanni Garibay.

Currently, I am in the women’s caucus where we are discussing reaching out to young women voters in America. With the Republicans ahead in framing their argument with low taxes, small government and jobs; Democrats, especially young women, have to frame their arguments to reach a broad range of women. The main message is to spread the word about how and when to vote. College students rarely know that they can vote at their college library. Young women who are in the professional realm also are not being targeted by campaigns because they are vastly overlooked.
The statistics show that if women will actually get out to vote, they will on average more likely vote Democrat. Before approaching someone to vote Democrat, make sure they are equipped to vote (ie) registered voter.
Statistics show that female voters are reaching out to more issues then choice, job equity. The War in Iraq, the economy, and health care run the gamete of issues that women voters are concerned about. Women need to use peer-to-peer contact to create a base in which they can approach female voters on issues.
I am with Alex De Ocampo at the moment, presidential candidate for Team Unity, is there anything you would like to say to Texas? Alex: "I am running for YDA president and I am fighting for change. This organization can do better and we will do better. I ask for your support and thank you for your kindness. "
After meeting with Unity I am very impressed with the ideas, professionalism, and spirit they embody. More will come after the general meeting once I see Nancy Pelosi!!!!!!
