The Future?
By Karl-Thomas Musselman
Though we can certainly smirk like schoolchildren at this comment left over at In the Pink Texas's post on Bell's Announcement, it makes me a bit sad because there are a lot of the WDs that I really respect. So I would like to ask you? What or who do you think is the future of our Texas Party? Do we have any Paul Hacketts around this state? (Remember to donate to our Honorary Texan today, BOR has already given $105 of the total so far!)
The wd40s - most d40s period - are tired and burned out, anyway, at least the ones I know. UDems and others like you folks over at BOR - you are the future of the party. When you come of political age the state may have swung, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. You are often inspiring. (Yechh, I’m gushing.) Anyway, keep up the good work and don’t lose faith. But it’s going to be a rough road.

Of course we now have Chris Bell as another of our candidates in addition to Barbara Radnofsky and David Van Os, but my question is less about this year's statewides, more the back bench and the future.

You might try asking some folks who aren't party activists (any more) without picking a fight if they don't say exactly what you want to hear. It is what the other party, now in the majority, did.
The future of the Democratic party is not a thing, or a person. The future of the Democratic party is a collection of people and ideas that defy age, rise above color or creed, and maintain faith in the basic principles of choice and opportunity.
That collection of people and ideas that believe in choice and opportunity are the future of the Democratic party. The people that believe in division, ego, personality and power are not. Find which side of the fence you lie, and the rest will fall into place.
Hell Phillip, why aren't you running. I'd vote for you in a heartbeat.
That fence you refer to might be the problem.
And thanks Realist. That's one of the things that I know the John Courage campaign is planning on. This fall and in the spring, going door to door to Independents and swing voters, what they are looking for, are concerned about, views on politics, etc. It's an important concept.
That's good to hear Karl-T.
After watching an episode of "The Real World: Austin," I'm more prone to weep for the future of mankind.
Realist -- you're right. Fence was a poor word choice. I meant that decide what you believe, and the rest will fall into place.
