July 13, 2005TDP Speaks out about Kelly FeroBy Katie NaranjoMembers of the SDEC have contacted me about the release of Mr. Fero's services as a matter of budget problems rather then any harsh feelings. The TDP is very appreciative of all the work Mr. Fero has preformed for them and his release is on good terms. Dr. Teal (SDEC 3 Committeeman) stated that, "Mr. Fero's is no longer consulting for the democratic party because the budget is no longer flexible as it previously was. This is not a retaliatory action or due to his consulting for John Sharp, but merely a numbers issue." Posted by Katie Naranjo at July 13, 2005 12:29 PM | TrackBackComments
How or why Kelly Fero was let go doesn't really matter. How to win legislative races is what is important. Politics is about people, not personalities, and I wish that all the folks on the inside of the party would stop focusing on their egoes and start paying attention to message and policy. Republicans are trying to push through an education bill that has zero support from teachers, parents, and superintendents, and a tax bill that is going to raise taxes on every household that makes less than $140,000. It's time to stop paying so much damn attention to who said what to who outside the cafeteria at lunch. Posted by: Phillip Martin at July 13, 2005 01:15 PMPhillip is right. Dr. Teal is the worst. He is provincial, uninformed and pig headed. The Democratic Party would be better off without him. I''m not surprised Fero left. Posted by: Disgusted D at July 13, 2005 03:11 PMFero is gone and that's that. The important thing is to work for a change, exactly what Phillip was talking about. The party is inefficient but unless you have another system or alternative then try to work with the party for a change then criticize. I don't think it is necessary to attack other Democrats either, especially Dr. Teal. I am sure you guys could find something more worthy to post and discuss then bashing other Dems. Posted by: Katie at July 13, 2005 03:24 PMThere is a big difference between bashing good Democrats and speaking the truth about dead weight in our party. Dennis Teal is a blowhard, self-righteous, attention-seeking jack ass who treats people like objects and wants to be chairman so bad he can taste it. Kelly Fero has helped John Sharp, Ann Richards, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair and a whole host of other notables win their elections. The fact that he is the victim of an ill-sighted budget cut and Teal gets to bloviate about it on the blogs is a tragedy. Thanks for finally putting the truth out there, I was afraid Fero was gone for good. At least now we know that he'll be back as soon as some more enlightened leadership comes around. Posted by: Even Deeper Throat at July 13, 2005 03:39 PMI am in 100% agreement with Even Deeper Throat. Dr. Teal is a mean, self-centered jerk. Lord help us if he is ever Chairman of the party. Misery really does love company--when he is around, acting as the miserable person he is, everyone else feels the same way. Phillip is right on the money, so to speak. I think the Dems lose their way analyzing things that really don't matter all that much in the long run. Let's concentrate on how to win the races and the battles within the Lege. The reason Fero left was they could no longer to afford to pay him his $5,000 a month fee. The party spends $78,000 a month and currently has $25,000 in the bank. You do the math. Does anyone think we're getting our moneys worth from the $78,000 a month we're spending on the party? Posted by: Jobu at July 13, 2005 04:49 PMYou Democrats are pitiful. Fighting among yourselves, cannibilizing your own, climbing all over yourselves to get a slice of a pie that's not even worth having. The current chairman and his team have begun to turn around a bureaucracy that was top-heavy with do-nothing consultants and hobbled by dysfunctional leadership. I have a feeling the criticism today comes from the crowd that lost their jobs. Good riddance. No matter what financial constraints there are now, that crowd should not be welcomed back. They are big reason the party was broken and had to be fixed. Posted by: Disgusted D at July 13, 2005 05:18 PMIf what the crackpots on the SDEC do or do not want ever becomes relevant to Kelly Fero or any of the rest of us, then we will all know without a doubt that we have sunk into a hopeless pit from which there is no escape.
