Keeping Wynn Weird
By Karl-Thomas Musselman
Well, the otherwise neutrally bland Austin Mayor Will Wynn scored a PR coup today as he gave Austin, and himself, some flavor.
And here's the actual strange, but true video, though maybe Mayor Jumps Off Bridge isn't the best title.

Rick Perry, you are next. However, you will be thrown off!
I don't know. I think Wynn has been branded unfairly. He started to grow on me awhile back, especially after I actually met him. Now he's really getting into the whole "Weird Austin" groove. He's been encouraging film, music, and gaming. And we're getting lots of national exposure thanks to "The Real World: Austin."
He's running a national campaign to support PBS, which was of MAJOR importance to my childhood. He's even getting the skateboarders their own park so they no longer have to be marginalized. And the job situtation is certainly better than it was.
And while most mayors wouldn't dare ruffling their own dignity, Wynn jumps off a bridge to bring attention to the local indie film scene. Hey, I wouldn't jump off a bridge for love or money.
Give him a break. He's making more of an effort than a lot of others would.
