We're pleased to announce that Congressman Max Sandlin will be joining us for Sunday's house party conference call as a special guest. Rep. Sandlin served with Chris in the U.S. House until both were gerrymandered out of their seats by Tom DeLay. He stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Chris when Chris filed the ethics complaint against DeLay, and we couldn't be happier that he will be joining us on Sunday to share his own perspective on the need for an ethical renewal in Texas politics. Chris's friends will be coming together from Chicago to Tulsa, from Austin to Arlington to Amarillo, from Waxahachie to Washington, DC, so don't miss out on your chance to join in. The house parties are part of Chris's commitment to reforming the way Democratic campaigns are run in Texas, but they're also the cornerstone of our drive to raise $30,000 online by midnight on Wednesday, June 15 Chris is committed to running a true grassroots campaign to restore the great Democratic values of fairness, responsibility, and accountability, and this fundraising drive will send a clear signal that the grassroots is responding to Chris's message and is ready to give Chris the support he'll need to win in 2006. So if you can't attend a house party on Sunday, you can still help Chris reach his goal. There are a lot of chapters left in this book, but we know how it ends. Voters around the state are tired of Rick Perry's failed leadership. A politician who chooses divisive partisanship over progress doesn't share the values of the New Mainstream, and that's why Chris is going to beat Rick Perry in 2006. Granted Chris Bell is a Democrat, BOR is left leaning/Dem Blog, and Chris Bell is the only "potential" Dem in the Governor's race as of yet, but (BTW I am "left leaning" myself) I dont understand why BOR is taking such an active approach with the Bell Campaign, yes some of you have signed on to be student volunteers/organizers for his campaign, but why not wait and see what other candidates announce (others will) before flaunting your support? Regular Reader, If there are other candidates, or issues you would like to see on here, please feel free to give me a list and I will get info and post on them as well. One last thing, it isn't that BOR is overly insane about Chris, I support him as many others do, but rather, why aren't you following him? Just some food for thought. Its not my blog so i obviously dont have final say, but I just feel that if your work for Chris Bell should be seperate from your work for BOR. (work is work paid or not) Interesting that you turn into a question of why I am not following Chris Bell. I didnt say I wasnt following Chris Bell, I just havent come to an absolute I am going to support him in the primary decision, because 1. he hasnt officially announced he is running, and two there will most likely be many other candidates to choose from. I in fact followig Chris Bell and other potential gubanatorial candidates and potential candidates up and down the ballot very closely. I have gone to Bell events here in austin and had fairly lengthy conversations with him. I think he is a great guy. I dont know who else is running, so havent made up my mind. I think it is great you are posting information on him and his campaign, just my humble opinion that your posts should not be blatant support, yet. That should be on his campaign web site or his fan club website. Byron has stepped back because of his new position, and I just would like to see BOR continue this rational. Again, not my blog, but i would like to see you guys not taking sides and campaigning for one candidate so early on. Posted by: Regular Reader at June 13, 2005 08:31 PMThere could also be the fact that a guy who couldn't win the Democratic primary as the incumbent in a compact and almost wholly Democratic district against a two-bit JP might not be the best choice to run statewide. I mean, the guy files one ethics complaint and he's fit to be governor? He needs a little more experience before he runs for governor.
