May 08, 2005Marchant Son Defeated for Carrollton MayorBy Byron LaMastersI spent little time following the elections outside of the major cities last night, but one race in particular caught my eye this morning, and made me smile a little bit. Matthew Marchant, the son of the U.S. Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Carrollton) lost his bid for mayor of Carrollton (a northwest Dallas suburb) to Becky Miller. The final results from Dallas County Elections:
I know next to nothing about Becky Miller, but I do know that Kenny Marchant was one of the most vocal Craddick/DeLay hacks during the 2003 re-redistricting ordeal (and was rewarded with a seat in congress - Texas's 24th CD, formerly held by Martin Frost). So, I was pleased to see Kenny's attempts to use his name to carry his son to office fail. Posted by Byron LaMasters at May 8, 2005 11:29 AM | TrackBackComments
Kenny Marchant is my congressman, and I say...GOOD. My impression of Marchant is that he's another one of those pseudo-Christian, Talibaptist DeLay Kool-Aid drinkers, and I've resisted going to the office and reading one of his flunkies the Riot Act for enabling so many of these evil - yes, evil - bills that have been passed in the US House lately. The latest one that really bothers me is the Iraq appropriations act, that includes provisions to create a national ID card. So...f-ck Marchant and his spawn. Carrollton is the better for it. Posted by: Sirena at May 8, 2005 01:23 PMI try not to call names on BOR, but I'll make an exception-- Kenny Marchant is a real jerk. Period. He was incredibly rude during testimony in the first rounds of the public redistricting hearings, and I was amazed at his gawdawful attitude. Such a creep. He is a nasty, nasty excuse for a man, and and if Jr. is anything like him, I'm glad that his son lost his race. Posted by: Andrea Meyer at May 8, 2005 09:43 PMI know Becky Miller. She is interested in what is happening with Carrollton. Marchant on the other hand is just using this to follow in his daddy's footsteps. Here today, gone to Austin or Washington tomorrow. Posted by: perkins at May 9, 2005 02:37 PMBe warry fellow watchers. MM and his buddies do not sound like the kind of guys that quit. Get involved, vote, etc. etc. If you do not do it they will... Posted by: Tad at May 16, 2005 09:51 AMLOOK! I don't see any of you doing his job! You are shallow minded insults to America's society! If you think that surface based information is enough to condemn someone then fine, maybe that's why your not doing anything about anything! I wouldn't smirk for too long , because Kenny has already made it this far without YOU! His son is an excellent follower in his footsteps and Carrollton would be lucky to have him in office. Maybe some of you should shove it with the political B.S.!!! Kenny Marchant is a self-made man and has earned EVERYTHING he has, and so has his son! You don't know them and you don't care too either! So guess what.... Kenny is a great leader and example, and I am honored to have him as my congressman (he earned that----was not awarded with!!).P.S. Matthew has never needed his name to get him anywhere. Posted by: Briana Mitchell at June 15, 2005 11:00 PMI strogly believe Kenny Marchant is doing the best he can to be a TEXAS U.S. Rep. he stands for the people. Miss. Mitchell, I agree with you comments we can't judge someone until we have actualy met the person. I know Mr. Kenny Marchant's son, Matthew Marchant, did all he could do to follow in his fathers footsteps. ( If anyone want to change the way the TEXAS House or the TEXAS Representatives in the U.S. House,do their best to represent the people, then get up yourself and run for office) !! Kenny Marchant is a great leader and I 'am proud he is my Representative here in TEXAS!! Posted by: Jen at July 23, 2005 12:57 AMThe two ladies above are all too accurate in their opinions and accusations! This state is lucky to have people that want to represent it....some of you may care but all you're doing is complaining about the person not the job he is doing. I would say perhaps its your inebriated state that has caused the slip of tonuges so brutaly portrayed above. Because, you are not seriously saying this crap? Are you? Nope. Thats what I thought. Piece of Advice: GROW UP...GET OVER IT if you don't like The Marchants, because like it or not they LEAD you! Posted by: Michael M. at July 24, 2005 03:29 AMPost a comment
