Bush Library at UT? Hell no
By Karl-Thomas Musselman
Our every friendly UT Board of Regents (infamous for being a bunch of Conservative Tutition Raising Hacks) has found something else to bid on, now that they have lost interest in Los Alamos-- The George W. Bush Presidential Library!
Now I know that these libraries bring prestige and scholarly research, but I'm sorry, considering we already have a far better President and Texan's Library (LBJ's) I'll pass on adding GWB's to the mix. Give it to Waco. The little space we have left here at UT should be spent on facilities or housing. Not some looming reminder that is out of place politically in this city.

Mmm... nucular.
As a matter of equity, it ought to go to Baylor or Texas Tech.
Maybe they could stick it in Crawford. Like, on top of the town.
Well, you can have some more restrooms and a maybe a day care if GWB Library opens. Or a place were all the bums could sleep by, or a place for the cokeheads. Ehh
send it to Sam Houston State
I think you and your commenters are mistaken on opposing a Bush library, but even so UT has many campuses and may not want to put it in Austin. For example, UT-Dallas may be a good place. also, it is wrong to think of this kind of thing in political terms, rather economic impact should be the main criteria. I would like to visit the GHW Bush library but it is in College Station. Arkansas has tilted GOP but they welcomed Clinton's library. nuff said.
I am with contrarian! I want the library and don't think it is at all out of place with this town. Think about it and weep. As Austin grows, it becomes more and more Republican.
Contrarian is exactly right - location, location, location! However, I think Houston would be an ideal location since it is the 4th largest city in the U.S., and the capital of the global energy industry. The University of Houston, with its ethnically and internationally diverse 35,000 student population, is the logical sponsor. UH has a new dynamic president and the university has launched a major initiative to achieve 1st tier university status. The library itself could be located in the Museum District close to the rail line and the other Museums. Additionally, Houston's tradition of philanthropy exceeds that of any other major city in Texas.
