This would be funny if it weren't so sad

A test of the US missile defense system ended in utter failure Wednesday. It would be really funny because it is an embarrassment to the Bush administration, but then I remember that literally billions have been spent to make this our only defense from boxcutter wielding terrorists and I weep.

The size and bold text of "guest post by nate nance" is very distracting. Hurts the eyes. Thought i would mention that nagging fact.
As a guest blogger, I'm kinda constrained to do what Byron and the other guys tell me. That's just the way Byron told me to set up my posts along with all that business at the end. So that's how I do it.
Send an email to Byron telling him that I need to be a regular writer for BOR and I will be more than happy to stop putting all that in the way. j/k.
While our enemies right now might be wielding boxcutters, our enemies 15-20 years from now will have ballistic missiles. Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, etc. National Missile Defense will give us the tools to be protected from their threats. Furthermore, in terms of our nuclear arsenal we are all offensive with no defensive capabilities. Ask any football coach- offense wins games, defense wins championships. Obviously at this point our arsenal is enough that no one can come close to competing with us. But there are any number of growing threats that will be able to go toe to toe with us. NMD will take the wind out of their sails.
... but then I remember that literally billions have been spent to make this our only defense from boxcutter wielding terrorists and I weep.
Please, dry your eyes - we've also spent billions of dollars to occupy Iraq to ensure no boxcutter-wielding Iraqis make their way stateside. Feel better?

uh, no, considering 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. whoops, looks like we invaded the wrong country then.
